Amber's POV.

After Rebecca and I left May at her new room I decided to take Rebecca back to the others. Once we entered the room I saw a cute sight.

Sasha was talking to Alpha Benjamin and Alpha Lucas, showing off Walnut to them. It was clear that they were infatuated with both of them and wouldn't be moving from there for a while.

I took Rebecca over to a seat and we sat down. Connor soon walked up and Rebecca held out her hands to him. He gladly picked her up and moved around to where she was now sitting in his lap.

She laid back against his chest and smiled happily. " Go do what you need to. I'll watch Rebecca. " said Connor.

I thanked him and walked off to the other guests. Some had come out of there rooms and were checking on the guards. A few of the elderly pack members were checking on Alpha Conan. One even had bruise cream and was placing it on his bruises for him since they were on his back and he couldn't reach.

Since he's here and not in the hospital we have, it means that he has only bruising. I'm glad he didn't get hurt worse. People were also greeting Jane and her kids and were making them feel welcome.

She looked so touched by their kindness and the kids just went with it, fully onboard with all this wool werewolf stuff.

Which leads me back to finding ways to protect them. These humans are going to try everything they can to take us down. They've clearly got snipers now if the shot Alpha Conan took was anything to go by.

I can't just sit here and let my pack get killed off one member at a time. I'll be leading them to their deaths. That's not what I plan to do.

I then come up with a small idea. I need to talk to their leader and fast. I walk over to my office and walk in. There on the back desk are long range radios that have been there since I arrived here. As I'm collecting them there's a small knock of the door.

I look to see Alpha Conan. " You plan on trying to talk to them, don't you?" He asked.

" With these, yes. I hope they're not that important to you. " I said.

" They aren't, but you are. What you plan on doing is dangerous Amber. What if they shoot you the second you step foot outside?" He asks.

" I'll be wearing armor. I have to believe that I'll be ok. This pack needs me and I'm not about to just lay down and give up. " I said turning on the radios and checking them.

" Have you talked it over with Connor?" He asked.

" No, if I do then he will insist of being the one to do this. I can't have that. I can't lose him, not again. " I said.

" Very well. Just try to be as safe as you can be. " he said.

I nodded and walked back with him. They grabbed one of the smallest sets of armor and placed it on me. Then I connected the helmet on my head. Connor walked up with a sleeping Rebecca in his arms.

" Amber, what are you doing?" He said.

" What I have to. It's ok. I'll be right back in. " I said.

" No, you can't do this. " he said.

" Something has to be done. I need to speak with them and this is the only way to communicate with them right now. " I said.

" Then I'll do it. Here, take Rebecca and I'll.... " he started but I stopped him.

" No, she needs a strong protector. She needs you. " I said.

" You are a strong protector and she needs you as well. " said Connor.

" no Connor, I can't have you going out there. " I said.

" Why not? What's the difference between me going out there and you?" He asked.

" I can't risk losing you again Connor. Not ever again. Please just....." I let out a sigh. " I'll be fine. Stay here with her and keep away from the windows. "

He sighs in clear frustration but nods and does as asked. All eyes are on me now and I take both radios and walk to the door.

I open it and walk out. The door shuts behind me. It eerily quiet out here and I know there's eyes on me. I can practically feel them boring into me, looking into my soul. It's creepy.

I step forward and walk down the porch slowly and down the front steps. I am holding the radios out in clear view. I don't sense anyone near just yet but as I get further down the walkway and I lean into my wolf instincts I can sense someone near me.

I look up and spot the shine of a sniper rifle looming down at me from my own watch tower. There were guards up there. I'm concerned for them. No one's lost any mates so they could still be alive.

I walk closer to the wood line and set the first radio down. I then turn back to face the sniper and hold up my radio and shake it. Indicating that I wanted to talk before I turn my back on the sniper and make my way back to the door.

My heart is beating heavily in my chest and I can hear the blood rushing in my ears. This is very risky. I could be shot at any moment but they seem to know I mean no harm by what I'm doing.

I make it back to the porch and turn. I shake the radio once more before opening the door and closing it behind me. Everyone is completely quiet and staring at me in concern.

I look over to see Alpha Benjamin is now holding Walnut and it's got to be one of the funniest and cutest things I have ever seen. I can't help the laugh I let out.

Everyone seems to calm down as I let out that laugh. I am pulled forward and am helped out of the armor. Connor then wraps me up in a tight hug. He plants a kids on my lips.

" Talk to me first before you do something that risky again. Please?" He asks.

" I will. I promise. " I said.

" Good. Now we wait. " said Connor.

We sat around for what felt like hours when in reality it was more like a half hour. Then the radio crackles and a voice comes through.

" You've made your intentions clear mutt. What is it you wish to talk about?" Said the voice of a girl.

I grab the radio and look at everyone. They all nod at me for reassurance. Welp, here goes nothing.
