"Oh stop laughing Mary, this is not funny," Remus told her through the phone. He currently had the phone pressed to his ear using his shoulders while his hands were running through Sirius' hair.

"Maybe try washing it again," Mary told him still laughing

"Fine, I'll call you but if that doesn't work Pads here are gonna have to go bald," Remus told her.

Sirius who had been in his own pit of despair since he had accidentally put gum in his hair finally spoke. "You wouldn't dare," he said spinning around.

Mary began to laugh after hearing this outburst and Remus put the landline phone down. "I would, you're a bloody idiot, and besides your hair is getting long," Remus told him as they walked to the bathroom and Remus made Sirius lean his head into the bath so Remus could try the shower head on his hair again.

"If you shave my hair I'll break up with you moony, I'm not joking," Sirius told him.

"Of course not Pads, I always knew your hair means too much to you," Remus replied rolling his eyes.

He finally managed to get the gum out and it was a relief.

"Moony we have to get ready, come on the reservations," Sirius told him. Remus had completely forgotten about the plan to go to the restaurant.

Sirius was making sure they did more active things, always complaining that Remus was absorbed in his books so much.

The two changed and of course, Sirius had booked them into a fancy restaurant so Remus was forced to change from his usual jumpers to something more expensive. It wasn't an outfit he was completely fond of but when he was ready the way Sirius was practically drooling at him made him begin to like the outfit.

The restaurant was a few streets away from their house. They had moved into a house six months earlier and it was a rather nice place, Sirius was not overly fond of the distance with James, even though it was only six minutes longer than the distance they had with him before.

It was early evening and the restaurant seemed to be becoming alive. Sirius had his hair tied up into a ponytail and Remus was sure he was wondering what it would have been like to come here bald.

Eating out was only ok when Remus was with other people, alone it seemed unusual. With Sirius it was always fine he was always eager to talk through meals and not give a care who heard or saw them, Sirius was always like that.

They finished their meals and Sirius began to walk with Remus out of the restaurant but instead of their normal route home, he began to walk in a different direction.

"Where are you going?" Remus asked, he would blindly follow Sirius anywhere but having a bit of knowledge always kept him a bit calmer.

"It's a surprise," Sirius told him grinning. He took Remus's hand and kept walking. They walked for another five minutes when Sirius stopped and began fumbling in his pockets until he pulled out a set of keys. He turned to the shop beside him which had closed curtains and no sign to show what it was and put the key into it and unlocked it.

"Please tell me you didn't steal those keys," Remus asked.

"No, of course not, come on, come in," Sirius said and so Remus did walking into the shop and stopped dead. It was two storeys tall and was dimly lit so Remus could only see the first floor properly but could make out a bannister overlooking the shop at the top of the stairs. It was full of books all stacked away with a desk at the front.

"Merlin this is a gorgeous book store, who's it?" Remus asked turning to Sirius.

"It's yours," Sirius replied shortly.

"What?"

"You always wanted one, so I thought I'd get you one, the books I specially picked mostly by me but I let Reg and Lily help they have a bit better taste in books," Sirius told him.

"You bought me a bookstore?" Remus asked and he nodded. In moments Remus's arms were around Sirius hugging him tightly. "Fucking hell Sirius, thank you, thank you," he said and he chuckled.

When they pulled away Sirius was smiling wildly. "Now I hope you still like surprises," he said and he began to fumble in his pockets again until he found a small velvet box and opened it revealing a silver ring and he began to lower himself down until he was on one knee. "Because Remus Lupin, I want to ask you to marry me,"

Words seemed to not form in Remus' mouth and he was thankful to hear Sirius still had more to say.

"Remus, Moony, Casanova of Gryffindor, you've been there for me since the start and you changed me so much, you made me believe there was hope for me and you showed me love I never thought I could deserve, and I hope that you feel the same so, Remus John Lupin would you make me the happiest man alive and marry me?" he asked.

Sirius fucking Black never stopped surprising Remus, but he had grown fond of the surprises this man gave him. "Yes, bloody hell yes Sirius," Remus told him as tears of joy began to spring to his eyes and he went over to Sirius who was smiling and kissed him. "Yes, a million times yes,".

The light flicked on above them and four cheers echoed. Remus looked up to see James, Regulus, Mary and Lily leaning over the bannister.

"Ok that's the last surprise," Sirius told him and he took Remus's hand and gently slip the finger onto his finger.

Lily was over in seconds running over to Remus to hug and congratulate him as Mary began to tell them all she was hoping Sirius would turn up here bald.

"Pads I bloody love you," Remus told Sirius as he got away from James who was crying hysterically with joy and kissed Sirius again.
