January was when Remus got his assignment. It was one of the meetings that Dumbledore came to. He pulled Remus aside and passed him a file.
"You'll go where it says on the night of the full moon, alone and only return if you're in interment danger or you feel you have gathered enough information," Dumbledore told him before promptly returning.
When Remus got home he and Sirius opened the file. It gave a forest and here was where it was believed Greyback and his pack spent at the full moon. Remus would have to join them and get as much information as he could about Voldemort's plans.
It was a week until the moon so Remus had enough time to make excuses. He made his friends aware that he would be gone for a while and unable to be contacted, he told them that it was an assignment from the Order and that he couldn't say more. He kind of knew why people weren't meant to know, it would worry them and it caused more chance of a leak which could put him in danger.
It was only ten minutes until Remus planned to apparate and Sirius was practically clinging to him, not wanting to let go.
"You've got to keep safe, I don't care if you haven't learnt anything if you're in trouble get away," Sirius told him.
"I will Pads don't worry, you'll have James to keep you company," Remus reminded him kissing the top of his head.
"I love you," Sirius told him softly.
"I love you too and I'll be alright," Remus told him.
When he arrived in the forest it was already quite dark, he took off his clothes and put his wand with them before putting them in a tree.
Dumbledore had told him not to go find him before the moon and wait. So he did and then he transformed. It was a blur from there but when he woke up he could hear others around. A woman then came over extending a hand a grin on her face that showed her yellow teeth. "Hiya handsome, what's a wolf like you doing here," she asked as he took it and he pulled her up with a strong force.
"Trying to find a calling or something," Remus said as he raised his hand to summon his clothes and wand. They came over and he began to put them on. It wasn't his usual sweaters, Dumbledore had instructed him to put on clothes that looked worn out and dirty.
"Who's this," a man asked who was pulling on a shirt, he was around the same height as Remus but a lot broader.
"Remus Lupin, I wonder when I'd be seeing you," a voice chuckled and Remus turned after pulling on a black shirt that was stained with mud. He was met with cold black eyes and did not even have to ask who he was.
"Fenrir," he spoke, there would be a time when he would say that voice like venom, but not now.
"How's dad?" Fenrir asked laughing.
"In Azkaban, where he deserves to be," Remus shot back which seemed to surprise Greyback a bit.
"You know, I knew you'd find your way back to me one day, but I thought it would be as revenge, not all are fond of this life," Greyback told him.
"You gave me a gift, you made me strong, Lyall was never going to be able to understand that, now look at him now," Remus responded.
A smile curved on Fenrir's lips and he seemed to be enjoying this. "What is it you want Remus Lupin," he asked.
"Am I right in saying that the Dark Lord plans to create a world where our kind is not hated, where we can be free," Remus asked.
"That is true," Fenrir replied.
"Then I want that world, I want someone to be able to stand and bring us to glory and not shun us like the ministry," Remus responded.
"Then you came to the right place, the Dark Lord accepts all werewolves, come with us," Greyback told him and extended an arm. The people around began to apparate and Remus stepped forward and took it and in seconds they were away from the forest.
They arrived in a place that looked gloomy. It was lit only by torches around the rooms. Greyback began to walk down the hallway and he followed.
They walked into a brighter room, now lit by fireplaces. This room was full of other people talking. "Fenrir, who is this?" Asked a cold voice and Remus held back gulping, it was him, he was right in front of Voldemort.
He looked inhuman, his eyes were even red and they were staring at Remus.
"This is Remus Lupin my lord, he seeks to join you, a werewolf I turned myself," Greyback replied, if he experienced the same chill Remus had, he didn't show it.
"I gladly welcome you Remus Lupin," Voldemort said before turning around.
"All us wolves are placed in different homes, I know of one with a few spare rooms, I shall take you there," Fenrir told him and once extended his arm which Remus took again and they apparated.
"Orion!" Greyback yelled and Remus's mouth felt dry, Orion Black, Sirius's father.
A man appeared walking round the corner and his eyes fell on Remus instantly.
"What is Fenrir?" He asked sharply.
"Another wolf has joined the Dark Lord, he'll need accommodations and someone to teach him," Fenrir told him before apparating away.
Orion didn't look pleased with having his house used. "Come with me," he said sharply and Remus followed him up a flight of stairs where he knocked on a door.
The door opened and Regulus stood in front of him. The two had to fight off shocked faces.
"This boy has joined the Dark Lord, please give him a room and teach him the right ways," Orion said before disappearing down the stairs.
Remus followed Regulus now to an empty room which they both walked into and Regulus quickly shut the door.
