Running in the dark

Chapter 28

Two weeks passed and the Hogsmeade trip came, Regulus, Lily and Remus had not changed their decision of staying at Hogwarts. However, the others were very keen on making them go anyways, so they began to conduct a scheme involving an invisibility cloak, some mild abduction and a few spells.

When Regulus and Remus awoke, they had the same thoughts cross their minds, with James and Sirius as their boyfriends they were going to have to start sleeping with one eye open. They were in a dark narrow passageway which Remus recognised as the one-eyed witch passage to Honey dukes. Then a whip of fiery red hair made them realise Lily was there. She did however not realise what had happened and looked around in her haze and upon getting the shock of seeing Regulus' face beside her, almost punched him. 

"Jesus, sorry, wait are we in the one-eyed witch passage?" she asked and the two nodded. "I'm going to murder Mary," she mumbled and then looked at the opposite end of the passage. "Can't we just walk back?" she asked, and they seem to agree that there had been a mistake in whatever plan had been made and stood up beginning to make their way to the castle. But halfway through the passage with Lily at the front, she seemed to halt at something.

"What is it?" Remus asked peering over Regulus' shoulder to see. Lily looked like she was trying to push forward but some sort of force was stopping her.

"Barrier spell?" Regulus asked and she nodded in return. They agreed that they had been fooled and that they may as well go to Hogsmeade and just try and irritate the conductors of this plan to the best of their abilities. 

Remus was just glad that they had the decency this time to change them from their night clothes but wasn't too glad at the clothes he was wearing, and Regulus and Lily seemed to be having the same mixed feelings about their clothes too. Remus was wearing tighter James than the usual baggy ones he wore and instead of a usual plain shirt with a comfy sweater on top, he was wearing one of Sirius queen shirts that were a bit too short on his taller torso so that it rode up a bit revealing his midriff, and above it was a leather jacket. 

Regulus liked to wear darker clothes, blacks, greens and greys and now he was wearing something that embarrassed him a bit too much for his liking. James had put him into a black zip-up hoodie which wasn't too bad, but he was also wearing James' own Gryffindor quidditch shirt with the word 'James' written on it in gold. 

Lily usually liked to wear long brown or burgundy trousers with a nice white shirt or sweater but now she was wearing a black miniskirt with a red shirt and a matching black cardigan, to add to this she was also wearing black heeled boots which meant she was almost as tall as Remus and had to crouch down a bit to keep her head from hitting the top of the passage.

"I think Sirius put me in his clothes, I look like the spitting image of him," Remus groaned.

Lily looked at him and realised something she hadn't realised earlier and she felt a smile appear on her face unintentionally "I was hoping not to upset your mood anymore, but you seem to have eyeliner on," Lily said trying to stifle a giggle. Regulus looked at him too and a smirk appeared on his face and Remus let out a groan realising what had been done.

Mary, Sirius and James were the main masterminds of the plan and were more than happy at how they had pulled it off. They were the first to Hogsmeade in the morning and stood waiting by Honey Dukes for the other three to appear. They were proud of the whole prank and how they knew that the outfits they had chosen would irritate their partners. But they didn't think really about how those outfits would affect them.

As the three slipped out of Honey Dukes with the help of James' invisibility cloak that had been left there, the other three seem to be finally knocked speechless by them. In the dark, the eyeliner and leather jacket was hilarious to put on Remus but now as he walked over Sirius was utterly stunned, Remus looked really really hot, and Sirius felt as if he had forgotten to breathe for a few seconds.

James seemed to be having a similar effect from Regulus, just seeing him in his quidditch shirt made James weak in the knees and Mary was trying to stop blushing herself at seeing Lily in heeled boots and a mini skirt, they had managed to descend themselves into a horrendous situation become incredibly flustered.

"Are you going to stand there gawking or are we going to go somewhere?" Regulus asked James. He, Remus and Lily had decided that they deserved a bit of rudeness.

"Hey," Mary smiled at Lily as she felt the blush creep further on her cheeks and hoped the others couldn't see it.

"You're in-trouble MacDonald," Lily snapped back and Mary had to remind herself to breathe.

"You look good," Sirius breathed out to Remus as they began to follow James who seemed to be leading the way, occasionally stumbling over something.

"Fuck you," Remus snapped back.

"Anytime," Sirius replied before realising what he had said. Remus let out a humoured laugh knowing Sirius was now definitely more embarrassed than he was in the outfit.

"You wish," he replied and was very pleased by seeing a red-faced Sirius who seemed to now become very fond of the ground.

The day was not bad, and they were later joined by Marlene, Dorcas, Peter and Pandora who found the outfits hilarious.

In the mid-afternoon, as they all sat in the three broomsticks, Mary sat next to Lily who had just let out a laugh and Mary had just spoken out what was in her mind.

"Kiss me," she whispered, and Lily turned, stunned by the command.

"What?" she said, rather sure she had heard it wrong.

"We only live once, so fuck it," Mary said and before she knew it Lily was kissing her in front of the others and merlin was it amazing.
