Ashton:

* You meet at the beach *

* Y/N stands for your name *

Walking down the steps that lead to the beach, I took in a deep breath, revelling in the salty ocean air that seeped into my lungs.

I came here often, as a way of escaping, getting some space and giving me time to think.

It calmed me.

It soothed me.

I always felt so much better after spending a day here.

I stepped onto the sands, and immediately kicked off my shoes.

Why I chose to wears converse to the beach, I'd never know.

I just loved the shoes.

I pulled off my socks, shoving them inside my shoes and held them in my hands.

The sand sifting through my toes, soft and warm.

I sighed, and stopped, letting my head fall back and allow the sun to soak to in.

It was warm.

I began walking again, towards the waters edge.

My toes dipped in, the water cool, and I kept going, until it came just below my knees.

I turned slightly, chucking my shoes behind me to land in the sand with a thump.

It was early, much too early for the majority of the people to be out, which was one of the reasons I loved coming here.

I stood for several minutes, eyes closed, head facing the sun, as I revelled in the peace and quiet surrounding me.

The water suddenly began to move, sloshing and splashing as someone ventured in, coming to a standstill beside me.

I opened my eyes and turned to face the person who had cared to join me.

"Hey," I said, smiling at the girl stood beside me.

"Hi," she replied, greeting me with a cute smile.

"I'm Ashton."

I introduced myself and awaited her reply.

Would she tell me her name?

"I'm Y/N," she replied.

I smiled, to which she returned, before I focused on the water before me.

"The view is beautiful isn't it," she suddenly said.

'Not as beautiful as you' I thought.

I internally cringed, thankful that I hadn't aired those views.

They were very cliche and I wasn't sure if she'd appreciate hearing that.

"Mmhmm," I mumbled in agreement.

"I'm sorry if I disturbed you. I didn't know if you'd want company or not. You seemed so peaceful," she assessed.

"No, of course not. Don't worry about it. It does get lonely sometimes. I don't mind at all," I assured her.

I gave her a warm smile.

"You come here often?" she asked.

"Only when I have a bit of time off work," I explained. "What about you?"

"Yeah, as much as I can, I guess," she replied, shrugging.

We didn't speak again for a couple of minutes, but the silence wasn't in the least bit uncomfortable.

"Would it be totally weird if I asked you out?" I chuckled, finally turning to face her.

She turned to me, a knowing smile taking up her lips.

"I was waiting for that to come," she laughed.

"Am I that transparent?" I gasped, feigning hurt.

She laughed and shook her head. "No, but that's what usually happens, so I just figured," she explained.

"So?" I prodded.

Here came the part where she turned me down.

I was mentally prepared to be sent away.

"I guess it wouldn't, no," she said. "Friday okay for you?"

I nodded quickly, a grin taking up my whole face. "Friday's fine," I gushed.

We swapped numbers and parted ways.

Friday couldn't come sooner!
