PART 5

"Y/N, are you almost ready?" mum yelled up to me for the third time.

"I said yes five minutes ago. I'm just putting on my shoes," I huffed.

I didn't understand what the rush was all about.

I was sure the table we had booked would still be there, even if we were a little late.

I pulled on my black strappy heels and picked up my little black bag.

I pulled the little strap over my arm and grabbed my phone.

I slowly made my way down the stairs, watching my feet so I didn't trip.

As I neared the bottom step, I could see my mums feet.

I looked up to see her stood with her hands on her hips.

"What time do you call this?" she grumbled.

I just laughed as I pushed past her and went out to the car, where all my family were patiently waiting.

"There's a bee behind you!" Haley yelled to Kyle as she pointed behind him.

He screamed as he raced away to the end of the garden, and Haley and Georgia burst into a fit of laughter.

He waved his hands around his head as he came to a standstill.

"There was no bee," I told him, giggling at my sisters antics.

Us girls just loved to wind him up because it was so easy.

He made it too easy.

And he was too gullible, always falling for our tricks.

"You idiots," he grumbled, as he glared at the pair of them.

He walked back to the car, his hands coming to rest folded on his chest.

Mum came clicking down the garden in her heels, and looked back and forth between us.

With two laughing daughters and one glaring son, she didn't know what she'd walked into.

She just shook her head, dismissing their crazy behaviour and unlocked the car.

We all clambered inside and she drove off.

"So, where are we eating?" I asked, hoping someone could shed some light for me.

Kyle tapped his nose deviously and grinned.

Haley shook her head without answering.

And Georgia, as usual, was too busy tapping away at her phone.

Mum was the only one who actually spoke.

She glanced at me through the mirror.

"It's a surprise. Just wait and see," she said, sneakily.

I sat in my seat, my brow furrowed as I thought of all the places we could possibly be going.

There were too many to think of and my brain couldn't think straight.

So I just sat back in silence and waited.

--

As the car rolled along, we'd passed all the places I'd assumed we'd be going.

And we were now heading out of the town centre.

Where the heck were we going?

Why were we venturing so far for a meal?
