ASHTON

She was staring.  She was searching.  She was scrutinising my motives and nit-picking at my intentions.  She knew I knew more than I was letting on and that I had something to hide and I couldn't let her know the truth.  So I ran.  I ran away from her again and left my heart behind.

I darted to my car, climbing in and speeding off without looking back.  I knew she was still there, probably watching where I'd left and wondering why I was in a rush.  I hadn't even told her why I was there so she surely had to be curious about that.

My phone rang as I made a sharp U-turn and I glanced at it in the holder.  Luke's name was flashing on the screen so I clicked decline.  I wasn't up for talking to him, or any of the boys for that matter.  I only wanted to speak to one person.  Liam.  I needed to ask him why he'd just thrown me in the deep end without even giving me armbands.

Approaching Liam's house I recognised Harry's car.  I needed to speak to Liam alone, but seeing Harry's car I knew that wouldn't be possible.  I carried on driving, picking up the speed and pressing my foot on the accelerator as I flew past Liam's house.  My phone rang again and this time Y/N's name was on the screen.  I hesitated before declining her call.

I couldn't speak to her.  At least not yet.  I wasn't ready.  I had to be prepared.  I had to have the arm bands to keep me afloat in the deep end.  I couldn't swim that far out, it was too difficult.  I raced along the roads, not having a destination and just having the open road to clear my head.

I turned the radio loud, windows down and drove.  I drove and drove until I didn't think I could go any further and at that point I stopped at a drive thru.  I ordered some food, parked the car in a parking space and ate my food as I wallowed in self pity.
