Okay, I just wrote this super quick and I thought it was cute🙊 Hope you like it! - Meg
"Are you ready for tonight?" Ashton asked me as he buttoned up his shirt.
Was I ready?
I didn't even know.
I couldn't even remember when I'd agreed to this.
Or why I had agreed!
I didn't know whether it was the right time.
Was I moving too fast?
Would this scare her off if she wasn't in the same place as me?
"I'm taking your silence as a no," Ashton teased, giving me a shove.
I blinked.
"I don't know if it's the right time Ash," I voiced my biggest fear.
He sighed and ran a hand down his face.
"Luke, there couldn't be a better time than right now. Trust me," he reassured me.
"But today? Really?" I queried.
It just didn't feel like today was a great day to do this.
"I couldn't think of a better day. She won't see this coming," he said.
He was right there.
She wouldn't see it coming.
Because it was so out of the blue, so unexpected.
And possibly so reckless!
--
The music slowed and the people crowding the large reception hall began to disperse.
I backed up and everyone came into a circle.
In the middle of the circle, he took his place.
And by his side, his world.
His hands grasped hers and he span her around, her ivory laced dress spinning around.
His smile was bigger than I'd ever seen and I couldn't be prouder.
My brother, my best friend, was getting married.
And after tonight, hopefully I'd be next.
--
A cluster of women began to gather and I felt my heart begin to race.
Was it hot in here?
Where was the air?
I began to fan myself with my hand, wiping the beads of perspiration from my forehead with the back of my hand.
A hand clamped down on my shoulder and I jumped.
"Sorry," Ashton chuckled.
"Are you ready?" he asked.
I shook my head, feeling my heart race even faster.
I wasn't ready.
Why was I even doing this?
I shouldn't be doing this.
I was taking this too far, too soon!
"Stop overthinking things," he groaned.
"She loves you. She wants this as much as you do," he assured me.
"But does she want it now?" I asked, my voice quiet.
"There's only one way to find out," he said, nodding over to where she stood.
"Thanks for the support mate," I said sarcastically.
He chuckled and pushed me forward.
"Go for it," he whispered.
I turned my attention to the women and my eyes instantly focused in on her.
She stood, with her back to me, the hair cascading in beautiful waves down her back.
The blush pink dress clung to her hips, accentuating her perfect body.
I gulped and checked my pocket one last time for the little blue velvet box.
It was still there, safe and sound, snuggled deep in my pants pockets.
Ashton's new wife turned, holding the flowers firmly in her hands.
She took a few tease swings and the women began moving around, reaching up high.
Then she span around, and made a beeline for Y/N.
Y/N raised an eyebrow, a frown on her plump lips and took the flowers.
Now it was down to me.
My time to shine.
I could do this!
--
I walked up behind her, dropping to one knee and the women all began to squeal, covering their open mouths with their hands.
She looked at them in confusion and a few nodded and pointed behind her.
She span around and her eyes popped open wide, as her mouth dropped.
I grinned up at her, feeling the nerves slip away and my heart was racing with happiness rather than fear.
"Y/N," I whispered.
She sniffled and a few cameras clicked.
"I love you so much," I proclaimed.
A collective awe was heard throughout the watching crowds.
"I didn't think this was an appropriate time to do this but Ash was all for it," I explained with a nervous laugh.
She smiled, the tears trickling down her cheeks.
"And I was right," Ashton piped up from behind her.
She giggled and wiped at her tears, the bouquet of flowers still firmly grasped in her palms.
"Thanks mate," I said.
He winked.
"I never thought I'd meet someone so amazing, so beautiful and so kind. I never thought I'd be lucky enough to have this kind of love, but I have been blessed. I was given the most perfect gift. You," I told her.
"Luke," she choked out.
"This day, seeing my brother marry his love, made me realise I'm ready for that too. I want this. Forever," I explained.
Another awe was heard and a few sniffles.
"So Y/N, baby, would you do me the honour of becoming my wife?" I asked.
My heart was pounding at this point as I realised she could easily shut me down.
And that would be humiliating to say the least.
"Yes," she cried.
Everyone cheered and I jumped up to my feet and grabbed her waist, pulling her in.
I crushed my lips against hers and she moaned against my lips.
"I love you," she whispered.
"I love you more," I promised.
"Not possible," she giggled.
