ASHTON

The party was in full swing as we awaited the arrival of the newlyweds.  The couple hadn't arrived yet, as they'd taken a detour.  I could bet that they were just taking the long way here so they could make out in the back of the wedding car.

The tables were scattered around the room in a messy manner, but the whole place looked beautiful.  The tables were round, seating 8 people per table and covered in white lace tablecloths.  Each table had an array of flowers, the colours for each table different, from powder blue, to deep blue, to sky blue.

The chairs had white cloths hanging over the back tied off with powder blue bows.  I noticed that the theme, colour wise, was blue.  On each table were little name cards, blue scrawled inked names written on the white placards.

"I think we're sat together," Calum said.

He pulled out a chair and it scraped noisily across the floor.  He touched the little placards, reading the names.

"Michael's beside me, then Luke and you," he said.

"Who is sat on the other four chairs?" I asked as I took my seat.

"That would be us," Liam grunted behind me.

He stepped around me and took his seat beside Niall.  Louis pulled out Harry's chair and he gushed, kissing Louis' cheek then sat down.  Louis sat beside him and grabbed his hand, holding it in his.  Liam didn't even look in my direction again as the chairs started filling up.

I really should apologise for the way I'd treated him, the way I'd snapped at him when all he had wanted to do was help.  He was trying to be a good friend and I'd shot down his attempts.

"I see you've found your seats," Hope smiled as she passed us.

She took a seat up at the long rectangular table at the head of the room.  Two chairs, with the same white cloths and blue bows were in the middle.  However, they were a little taller and wider than our chairs, sort of like two thrones for the king and queen.

I spotted Y/N enter the room and her mouth dropped in awe as she took in the scene before her.  The best man, arm still linked with hers, watched her reaction, a pleased smile on his face.  I watched their interaction, feeling my heart contract and the sharp pain that came with my broken heart.

I couldn't stand to see this any longer.  I stood and all the boys eyes were on me.  The table shook as I gripped the edge of it and my shoulders hunched.

"Are you okay Ash?" Calum asked concerned.

I took a deep breath and nodded my head.  I wasn't sure if I was okay though.  I wasn't sure of anything.  A hand gently touched my shoulder and the person steered me out of the room.

Once outside, my palms slammed against the brick wall and I panted for breath.

"Breathe Ashton, breathe," Liam instructed.

I bent over, my hands grabbing my knees and I sucked in several deep breaths.  I was breathless at just seeing her.  My breath had been stolen.  She looked phenomenal, absolutely stunning.  The dress I'd picked worked wonders on her, her curves accentuated and her peachy ass on show.

"I can't.... I don't.... Her," I stuttered.

None of what I said made sense.  The words were mixed up.  She was messing with every single part of me.

"I told you to ask her," he reminded me.

I slowly nodded.  He had.  I didn't have the right to be mad.  Not at her, not at him.  Not even at the best man she'd ended up coming with.

"She has a date," I breathed.

"I know," Liam said.  "Ken."

"Ken?"  I stood, my hands on my hips.

"Yeah, Ken. He's Joe's best man," he explained.

"I should have listened Liam," I cried.  "I shouldn't have pushed you away. I should have listened. I'm sorry Liam."

"Hey, hey, it's alright," he soothed me.  "It wasn't your fault. I understand why you did what you did. I shouldn't have gotten involved."

"But I should have listened," I cried, standing up straighter.  "If I'd just done as you'd asked, I would be in there."

I pointed to the doors.

"I would be in there, with her. She would be on my arm. I would be dancing with her, kissing her, holding her," I stopped for breath.  "I would be with her."

"Maybe you still can be."

I looked back at him, my eyebrows furrowed.

"You can still go in there and tell her all this. You can ask her to dance, you can hold her and kiss her. He's just a date, just the guy who escorted her here. You're the best friend. You're the guy who has loved her for 3 years Ashton!"

"I can't just -"

"Yes you can!" he barked.  "Get in there and get your girl!"
