PART 2

The morning flew by and before I knew it, I was leaving to meet my friends.

Jenny and Caitlin had asked to meet in town so they could take me out for a meal.

I shut the front door and began walking down the path.

The taxi I'd ordered was outside and I climbed in.

"Where to love?" the taxi driver asked with a smile.

"Oxford road please," I replied.

He nodded and turned his attention back to the wheel.

He turned out of my street and I sat back as I texted my friends.

I let them know I was on my way and would be with them shortly.

I couldn't wait to see them.

Since summer had began I hadn't had a chance to see them.

Caitlin had a boyfriend who she had been with for a while now.

She was with him before I met her, for a year, so they were very long term.

They were getting ready to move in together and I couldn't be happier for her.

Although, I honestly hated her boyfriend.

Tim was a pain in the ass and in my honest opinion, a horrible boyfriend.

He was one of the most selfish people I'd ever met.

I had only met him a handful of times, but the impression I'd had from him wasn't good.

I got a bad vibe from him.

I just didn't think he treated her fairly.

He was lucky to have her, but I don't think he realised that.

Michael had met him even less times than I had and he hated him too.

So I knew it wasn't just me.

The first time Michael had met him, we'd gone to the cinema, on a double date.

We hadn't even been with them for fifteen minutes and Michael was ready to rip his head off!

We'd been stood in the concession queues, and Caitlin had said she wanted Starburst.

Tim, on the other hand, wanted popcorn.

When Caitlin had asked if he could buy her some Starburst, he'd said no.

He'd complained about the pricing, and also told her they were getting popcorn.

He'd asked why she needed both.

And she'd argued that she didn't want the popcorn, he did, so why couldn't she have the Starburst.

Michael had watched the back and forth hushed argument and been so angry.

He'd turned to me, a sweet but mocking smile on his face and said, "Baby do you want some sweets?"

I'd looked at him and rolled my eyes, but he'd stared back at me, waiting for my answer.

I nodded without speaking and he'd prodded me to say more, asking, "What would you like? You can have anything?"

He'd held out his arms to exaggerate the point about having 'anything'.

I had held back the laughter that was about to explode, and said, "Hmm, how about some Malteser's".

He'd leaned down, kissing my cheek and grinning mischievously before saying, "Of course babe".

I knew he'd done that on purpose just to rile up Tim and of course he'd succeeded.

As we'd left the cinema, Tim had trailed behind with Michael and they'd spoken quietly.

Caitlin and I had skipped ahead, arms linked as we giggled and gushed about the movie we'd just watched.

Each time we turned to see if they were still there, Tim awkwardly smiled at Caitlin and Michael winked, stuck out his tongue or bit on his lip.

Michael had done everything he could to avoid seeing Tim again.

But of course, Caitlin had been completely oblivious to the incident at the cinema and had set up more double dates.

I felt bad cancelling or lying so I always said okay when she asked.

Michael had been annoyed each time and frowned the whole day, whilst I'd stifled laughing at him.

My phone buzzed in my lap and I unlocked it and checked the message.

To: Y/N
From: Caitlin

We're here now. Just let us now when you get here :) x

I checked out of the window to see we were already in town and just coming up to Oxford Road.

I texted her back and said I would be about five minutes.

My stomach grumbled as I neared the road.

I couldn't wait for this meal.
