Mystery Dates Part 1 (A.I)

"So your sister is getting married in.... 2 months right?" Colleen said as she sipped her coffee.

Her boyfriend, Tom, sat by her side with his arm slung over her chair.  Beside him was Brandon and Jane, then Michael, Liam and finally Ashton.

"Yep, 2 months and my sister will be officially married!" I gushed.

She had come to me just over a year ago bearing the good news and I'd been ecstatic.  I was so happy she had met Joe.  He was a simple man, but a sweet, kind hearted person all the same.  And plus, he loved and adored my sister and that was all I could ask for.

"Georgia's got a date," I told her.

Her brown eyes widened and she slowly put down her mug.

"Georgia?" she gasped.  "Really? Who?"

"Just some guy she's been seeing for 2 weeks," I shrugged.

"2 weeks!?! And she's inviting him to Hanna's wedding!" she said, shocked.

"Yeah, I guess they're getting serious now," I replied.

Georgia had brought how the charming Derek just over 2 weeks ago, telling us she was seeing him.  I had known she was seeing someone on the low, but I didn't realise it was serious.  At least not until she brought him round for dinner.

When I'd first met him I'd been impressed by his charm and his polite attitude.  But then I'd seen the way he treated Georgia.  After dinner, I'd almost walked into the kitchen whilst they were having a heated discussion.  Knowing all couples had spats, I slowly backed away from the door.  But when I'd heard her wince in pain, I'd stopped and backtracked.

Reaching the door I'd seen him with his hand wrapped tightly around her upper arm.  His face was a mask of pure anger and his nostrils were flared.  As I came closer to the door, I coughed to signal I was coming and he jumped away from her.  She was rubbing at her arm when I entered.

I hadn't liked him since then and I'd made it clear.  He knew.  He knew I didn't like him.  And he knew that I knew and that I'd seen them that day.  I'd told Hanna and Kyle, our brother, and Kyle had been all ready to murder him.  I'd told him to leave it, but of course he hadn't.  He didn't want to hurt Georgia further so he'd pulled Derek aside and warned him if he left a single mark on our sister, he'd leave a mark 10x worse on him.

I sighed just thinking back to that day and when I blinked to regain focus, I noticed all eyes were on me.

"So what's he like?" Jane asked.  "Georgia's boyfriend."

"Derek?" I replied.  "He's a dick!"

Jane laughed and shook her head.

"We don't like him, me, Hanna and Kyle," I explained.  "He's quite forceful with Georgia if you know what I mean."

"What do you mean?" Colleen asked with worry.

I took a deep breath.

"He's just very forceful with his words, very cruel and way too protective," I elaborated.

"I bet Kyle didn't like that," Michael piped up.

"No he didn't," I said.  "He threatened Derek and since then it's been very quiet between the two. I'm not even sure she's still bringing Derek to the wedding."

Since Kyle had threatened Derek, he hadn't been around again.  But that hadn't stopped Georgia going to him.  We'd spoken to her but she'd brushed off our concern and promised everything was alright.

"Kyle has a date too," I said, changing the subject.

"Awe how cute!" Colleen gushed.

She grinned and rested her head in her palms.  There was a look of awe on her face as she waited for me to elaborate.

"Yeah he came home yesterday and said he had a date.  I reminded him we were supposed to be going together as the only two single siblings left and his response was 'well sis, I have a girl now so you're on your own', I explained.

Colleen and Jane laughed.  Michael nodded in understanding and Liam chuckled.  Ashton, who was sat beside me, was frowning, his forehead creased.

"So you're going stag?" Michael noticed.

"I guess I am," I realised.
