A Deal With God PT1

Summary:

A slow burn ZaDR one-shot fanfic that has Dib and Zim go from enemies to friends to lovers. It takes place after the Florpus. Zim is unable to get in contact or even find the Armada which leaves him feeling lost and confused without purpose until Dib reaches out to the Irken and tries to be kind and his friend. Feelings of romance that both of them refuse to accept bubble through them as they do their best to get used to the unfamiliar new life as friends.

Zim starts having strange visions of his and Dib's death that Dib starts to have to as well. Where they either seeing themselves sacrificing themselves for the other or watching the other get killed before their eyes.

Little do they realize that these visions are far more important than they comprehend and they are on a trial that they themselves requested.

Zim restlessly paces in his living room, "Computer... find the Armada! And contact the Tallests!" He tried to hold back his panicked frustration.

"Contact unable to be established. Armada not found." The computer explained.

"I DON'T CARE RUN IT AGAIN! And Again! Just.... Find them...." Zim screamed pleadingly.

"Ugh this is like the 3,000 billion time you've made me do this." The computer complained.

"Don't talk back to Zim! Just do it!" Zim screamed.

Zim felt his antennaes bend backwards like a hurt dog and held back a whine. Ever since the Florpus... Zim couldn't reach the Tallests. He wanted to brag to the tallest about this scheme he's cooking up to use the human's fireworks to blow them all up.

Apparently Fourth of July has a weird tradition of shooting colorful explosions in the sky and school won't even be in the way, cause the kids are out for summer break, well expect him and Dib of course. They have to attend summer school cause of their bad grades.

Dib has been trying to actually work harder at his school and hasn't been as loud as he normally is. It's weird. Zim doesn't understand it. Zim has also been playing around with the weird clown thing he took from Dib and had tried to use it for something after the humiliating lost he was dealt from the event of operation Florpus.

"I'll just go looking for them again. Yes!" Zim nervously replied and hopped into his spaceship taking off not caring if the Dib tried to trail him.

"I'll just find them!" Zim was desperate and he knew it as he started searching the galaxy for the Armada, before coming back eventually.

It went on like that for awhile. It wasn't about destroying the planet, but finding the Armada and the tallests, because if they aren't here to witness his greatness than... Than what's the point?

Zim had forgotten about Fourth of July and sudden loud noises made Zim think earth was under attack. He immediately grabbed his gun and starts blasting into the sky.

"Back off other invaders! This is Zim's planet to destroy!" Zim shouted and realized it was just the dumb humans shooting their explosives in the sky.

Zim relaxed as Dib laughed at him, "Did you forget about the Fourth of July?" Dib smirked and Zim tried blasting his stupid head as Dib barely dodged shouting in fear.

Zim heads back into his house and boredly watched the explosions from his window. Dib snuck his way through the lawn defenses and knocked on the door.

"What you want?" Zim hissed.

"You want to shoot off some explosives with us?" Dib asked.

Zim puts his gun on the couch and opened the door to look at him in confusion, "You want Zim to fire explosives into your planet's atmosphere?" Zim was confused.
