Summary:
Dib Membrane has never been able to find proof of the paranormal to get anyone to believe him. Despite his best efforts to hunt cryptids down it's as the universe keeps him from finding them or getting proof of them.
His life is stupidly boring and he's entering his senior year of school and yet dreading it all the same.
He's about have his universe flipped around with a mysterious blue eyed Irken accidentally teleports into his living room at night while he was watching tv.
———————————————————Freedom....
It was a bitter sweet victory for Zim...
He had no Dib... The planet lied to him.
Sure he could go back in time, well not really. More like he can jump alternate timelines that matched his timeline, before he lost his Dib. All of that seemed pointless though.
He would just be taking those Dib's from other versions of himself...
He owed himself and another Dib to not be selfish like that...
Still... jumping to universe to universe trying to give those other versions peace... it made his heart feel empty and bitter.
Where was his happy ending? Where was his peace?
He lost focus of the rift he was trying to open and it flung him across universes. Not that he or Gir cared. They were partly Gods now in their own right. The machine based planet still weirdly connected to Zim even though he's long been disconnected to it's mainframe.
He's not sure when the energy his body was forced to endure and store would simply fade away or if it ever would.
At least he had Gir, so he had company, though they had little purpose to exist.
He simply cradles his legs pulling Gir to his chest. Holding on to his knees as he was flung through universes like the planet that had even his powers once was. He allowed himself to close the burning blue gem eyes and let them relax. His body still tingling in pain from having so much unstable energy inside him, though he's becoming numb and accustomed to the feeling.
He just lets himself drift through space spinning in slow flips. It's ice cold on his skin, but the energy inside him melts the cold away keeping alive. The lack of oxygen was never a problem for the Irken anyways.
The only sound was the occasional shrieks and giggles from Gir.
"Night... night. Master." Gir pretends to sleep.
Zim allows himself to pretend to sleep as well. Aware of himself at all times, yet his mind wandering as if he's in between sleep and awakening.
The silence was deafening. It took him far too long to register he had stopped moving. That there was air in the area. Smells familiar and yet unfamiliar to him. Sounds of what Zim slowly realized was Dib's late night paranormal shows... what was it called again? Monster Movie Madness special.
Than suddenly the all to familiar scream jolted the alien out of his tranced like state.
"AHHHHHHH!!!" Dib screamed in terror, which was a first, before his eyes lit up with awe and wonder.
Zim unfurled himself blinking back the darkness of the small living room to train his eyes on the tall and very handsome (though he's still going to die before ever admitting that) teenager standing with a shattered bowl of popcorn at his feet.
Dib was to shocked and bewildered by the scene, before him that all he could do was point and stare at first as he cried out, "A-alien! It's an alien!" As if he needed to say it for it to register properly to himself.
