Zim heads back to his base walking with Dib now that they are both free of the weighted load they had to carry.
"So what you think about the new substitute teacher?" Dib asked Zim trying to make conversation.
"He talks a lot. Thinks he knows everything. Very annoying. Makes me want to punch him in the throat." Zim hissed.
"That's a pretty violent and strong reaction to him. Normally you'd just be like whatever and don't care." Dib blinked in surprise.
"Just something about him pisses Zim off that's all." Zim snarled.
"Careful! You know what Mr. Adarth said about emotions!" Dib teased.
"My emotions are under control!" Zim hissed.
"So you acknowledge you have emotions!?!?" Dib gives a fake gasp of surprise.
"Shut up Dib." Zim snarled.
"No... seriously... you're not denying it anymore?!?" Dib now sounded a bit panicked.
"It's none of your business!" Zim spits in his face.
Dib wiped his face as he thinks about this. Usually Zim would say that he doesn't have earth feelings or it's impossible for Irken to feel anything. He's not denying it anymore. Meaning he's accepted that he is capable of feeling something.
"What made you accept that you had feelings?" Dib rushed to catch up with him adjusting his backpack on his shoulders.
"I've always known. I just felt like... I wasn't supposed to acknowledge them." Zim mumbled.
"So what made you change your mind?" Dib asked as Zim hissed at his pak buzzing at him again.
Zim claws at his wig in frustration as he stopped, "Zim?" Dib asked confused.
"When I get home! Imma work on my device and really blow your stupid face up!" Zim pointed his gloved claw at Dib.
"You can try! But I will be ready!" Dib nodded.
Zim doesn't want to admit it. Zim doesn't want to even think about it. Why he's not just leaving right now. Why he accepts he has some form of emotions. He didn't understand the feeling had a name until Zeek told them. He was aware they were there and at first accepted and didn't question it. There was no need to question the feelings. As everything was fine the way it was...
But now... he's questioning these feelings. Because they are getting in the way of his Irken duties.
What excuse can he possibly give for missing the reassessment of the tallest?!? He didn't get the message? He clearly did. He can't hide that. That he decided it didn't apply to him, because he's not an invader technically... Than why hasn't he reported for his duties at Foodcourtia?!? That he felt his mission to conquer and destroy earth was more important?
He can't lie that he knows now that the Armada was never coming to earth. He can't lie that he saw Tallest Red and Purple inside the Florpus...
He can deny that the Florpus was the cause of their death's but he knows deep down in his heart it killed them.
"My mission is real. It's just they are taking their time to get here..." Zim thinks deciding that his best argument.
"Than prepare yourself Dib worm! For soon you will meet your doom along with the rest of the world!" Zim laughed at him.
Thus the cycle continues....
It's getting harder to ignore. Zeek's lessons about life aren't exactly helping Zim, who wants nothing to change and everything to stay the same. Sometimes Zim has this feeling that the lessons Zeek's teaching are specific tailored to Zim and worded in a way Zim will understand even he refused to understand.
