Many years later....
Dib was twenty eight years old. He was a college professor teaching chemistry and a little bit of other things he learned from years of being a paranormal investigator. From checking water for dangerous gases that can cause hallucinations, to explaining how the lack of oxygen can create hallucinations, to how to use spirit boxes and explaining how they scientifically work and all that.
It was a boring and often thankless job, but it gave his father some hope for his insane son. People at least respected the scientific parts of his paranormal work, so there was that at least.
Though he still hasn't come across a stupid crytid yet, which was frustrating as heck. No... that's wrong.
He pulled out the picture of his sexy little teal alien friend and softly brushed his thumb over it.
The only thing that proved he was right. Assured him he hadn't lost his mind completely. That kept him searching for the supernatural.
Searching... for Zim...
Dib had lots of chances to have a normal life. Gretchen confessed to him and though he tried to date her to push back the dark fantasies he had for his alien comrade. In the end those fantasies were much harder to shove away. He often thought they were some alien device or gas or whatever, but multiple scans assured him nope.
He's slowly coming around the idea that he's just weirdly attracted to aliens. Which was extremely concerning. He had spent hours staring at various lewd pictures to try and recorrect his brain. Nothing made him him feel quite like he felt when he looked at his alien friend's picture.
He hated that. He hated that so much. It took everything in him not to consciously play with himself while looking at the picture. Not that his dreams gave a shit what he wanted. Only than was he forced to confront his feelings and enjoy it. He was deeply ashamed just how much he enjoyed the experience... Some days he would eagerly go to bed early wanting to experience another one of those erotic dreams. He had fought it so much as a teenager, now as an adult he simple had no more fcks to give about the whole ordeal.
At least there was one good thing about his job... There was one student in particular that held the same passion and curiosity as him. They had milk chocolate spiky hair, green eyes with black eye liner, they wore brown leather boots, black leather pants, a black t-shirt with a golden Z on it and a long blue trench coat they often had pushed the sleeve up into a bundle, because it's too long and black leather fingerless gloves.
His name is Louie and he was a transfer student from Britain. Dib had taken upon himself to help Louie make a career out of the paranormal and even hook him up with his connections to the Swollen Eyeball Network.
Every day they would go hunt for cryptids after college was over. Dib did show his picture of Zim, though reluctantly and not long either as he felt protective over the stupid picture these days.
"Oh wow... uh..." Louie felt just embarrassed as Dib felt seeing the picture, "Do you think this was the alien's attempt of seducing you?" He asked and Dib nearly chocked on his black coffee.
Though if it was true the alien did a dam good job of that.
"Why you think that?" Dib asked him ignoring a few weird looks the other customers of the coffee shop gave him as he talked with Louie in the cheap vinyl red booth next to the window.
"Well... it just seems personal... and he kinda looks shy? As if he knows what he's doing?" Louie explains drinking his sweet tea.
"Well... maybe he thought if he wore any clothes everyone just think he was a human in a suit or something... not that it worked. Everyone still didn't believe it was real." Dib groaned and sighed wiping coffee from the table, his clothes and just everywhere.
