Indrid flew them as close to town as possible without getting spotted and Carol returned his glasses. They must be magical in some way and help him blend in with human society. It's very interesting. She was starting to become less scared of him and more curious about him. She dared not ask questions though. He scared her too death. He's being nice right now, but he could just decide to kill her at any second if she annoys him too much.
He went into the store with her and bought them both some dry clothes. The rain is starting to let up a little bit, but it's still be pouring a good amount for the rest of the day.
Indrid asked the store employees very politely if they could change out of their wet clothes and wear them out. To which the employees took pity on them and allowed it. Indrid made sure to pay them for the stuff and opened the new umbrella and hold it over them both. Carol was still cold and wet and her hair was dripping over the raincoats that Indrid also bought them to protect their clothes from getting wet from their still damp hair. It's kinda weird how responsible and just considerate he is. Carol had to remind herself that he's actually a weird furry bug creature.
"I figure we should stop at a hotel. I'll buy us room, so we can take a hot shower, dry off properly and talk for a bit in private. It's one room. I don't plan on spending the night, so you don't have to worry about that." Indrid tells her.
Carol is too embarrassed to say anything, "I'll even treat you to something to eat. It's the least I can do after all that." Indrid softly assured her and she nodded.
"Thank you." Carol politely replied.
"I should be thank you Miss Carol! Your presence at that moment in time. Saved me from getting murdered by that creature. I was already having a lot of trouble dealing with it... but you gave me the time I needed to find a solution even if temporarily to stop it's assault on me." Indrid tells her.
"But... you won't help me in the future... if it comes after me." Carol holds her arm and Indrid sighed deeply.
"Please don't take it personally Miss Carol. I didn't want anyone involved in this matter. I have a gift. Some may call it a blessing others a curse. I can see the future. Sometimes I do it without even thinking about it or trying. All the branches of possibilities... because of this. I tend to avoid other living creatures. I don't want to see their ends. I don't want to feel responsible for them." Indrid tells her softly.
"But. That's so... miserable... you're just running away from everything. How can you be happy doing that? How can you not be lonely doing that?" Carol asked him.
Indrid sighed as he watched the rain fall as they walked down mostly empty streets with only a few people with umbrellas like them walking around and cars passing them by.
"Well. It would make me far more miserable knowing I could of stopped something I saw and didn't." Indrid explained.
Carol considers that, "With great power comes great responsibilities huh?" She asked.
"Yes. Truly a sound statement to describe this whole situation." Indrid sighed again.
Carol frowned, "Can you at least give me tips. A way to fight back or something if that creature finds me?" She asked.
"Yes of course. I can tell you where you can go. Where it'll have trouble finding you at least quickly." Indrid nodded.
"Than... that's enough for me. I'll probably die at it's hand, but I'll put up a good fight." Carol explained.
Indrid stopped and Carol stopped to look at him confused, "I'm... I'm really sorry. I got you involved in this. I didn't have a choice." Indrid looks like he was shaking.
