Part 72 - Still Smitten

Hobi's POV:

There's only two weeks left in the semester and today we're going to have a special visitor. Jungkook's friend and Idol, Yeonjun, is going to perform for the class. We'll do a freestyle session that will hopefully inspire some more creativity from the students. Most of them seem uninterested in dance, but there are a few who are actually really good.

Surprisingly, Jungkook is one of them, though he doesn't want to pursue it other than taking classes that Jimin is teaching. He didn't tell me that outright, but it's pretty obvious. I've tried talking to him about Jimin, but he shuts down whenever I bring it up. The two of us have reached a kind of peace and are almost friends at this point. I go out to lunch with him and Chim at least once a week.

Tae commented on Jungkook after the dinner party the other night. He said, "That kid is hot as fuck, but still obsessed with my best friend. What am I supposed to do with that?" I asked Tae if Jungkook had reached out to him after their one steamy night together. He said, "No. And I'm not sure I want him to if he's going to be thinking about Jimin the whole time." I shrugged and said, "A good fuck is a good fuck. Besides, I think he kind of likes you too." He looked at me skeptically and then we both started laughing. But seriously, I think Jungkook could fall for Tae if he would get over Jimin.

In the meantime, I've been hanging out with Tae on the weekends. He's always up to go out and party when he gets a break from the museum. It works out that we're not actually dating, because if so, this would be my second longest relationship. And knowing me, that would cause me to look elsewhere. The other night, I watched as Yoongi and Jimin danced together. I do want that some day, but still have too much of a wandering eye for right now. I know myself and am at okay with how I am.

I got dressed, grabbed an iced Americano on the way out, and headed to class. Of course Jimin was already there with Jungkook.

Jungkook: Hobi-hyung!

Hobi: Jungkook, Chim! Are we ready for a freestyle extravaganza?

Jungkook: Yeonjun will be here in 15.

We were in a larger studio that had bleachers to one side. It was a combined class today. The group performances were conducted here a couple weeks ago and the individuals would be held here as well. Guests were allowed within limits, so it might be a full class today.

Jimin: We have a few minutes, can I show you something I was practicing, Hyung?

Hobi: Of course.

Jimin ran through a couple of moves. Jungkook watched with a look of amazement on his face.

Hobi: You want to add that into our performance?

Jimin: Yeah, what do you think?

I joined him and we went through the mid-section of a routine we've been working on. We were so focused on what we were doing that we didn't notice the bleachers starting to fill up.

Jungkook: That was amazing. You should show Yeonjun that.

Jimin: I guess we should start with today's class.

Hobi: Go ahead, Chim.

Jimin welcomed those in attendance. I recognized only half the faces. Word must have gotten out that Yeonjun was coming.

Jimin: For those of you in our class, remember that solos will be next week. That is for half your grade. I've sent out the performance schedule via email. If you need a different time, let me know this week.

For those of you not in our class, it will be taught again next semester. Hoseok-ssi will be the instructor. I will be teaching an intermediate modern dance class and we'll co-teach an intro street dance class. Please consider signing up.

Just then Jungkook walked in with Yeonjun and many in the audience erupted into applause.

Jimin: Please welcome our special guest performer, Choi Yeonjun from Tomorrow x Together.

Some fans in the audience screamed. I looked him over, he's tall and thin. Good looking kid, but damn he looks young. He walked up to us and introduced himself and then said a few words to the class. He Bluetoothed a mix to the speakers and started dancing. One of the songs sounded familiar and I looked over to Chim. He whispered in my ear, "That's Yoongi's track."

After 15 minutes, Yeonjun took a break, and Jimin and I performed our routine for everyone. A few of the better dancers in class showed the routines they were working on and we provided some constructive criticism. Then we all freestyled for the remaining time. It was a blast. After class, Yeonjun signed some autographs and then came over to talk to us.

Jimin: Thank you for coming to our class! Hopefully you'll inspire more students to take up dance.

Yeonjun: No problem, it was a lot of fun. You two are great dancers. If I can swing it with Big Hit, would you be interested in being backup dancers on our next music video?

Hobi: That would be amazing!

Jimin: It would be an honor.

Yeonjun: Jungkook, you've gotten really good too. The offer's open if you're interested.

Jungkook: What, me? Sure, sounds like fun.

Yeonjun: And a good way to earn some money. (Grinning at his friend) It was nice meeting you, Hoseok and seeing you again, Jimin.

After Yeonjun left, the three friends went out to grab lunch.

Jimin: Your dancing really has improved. Maybe you should minor in dance?

Jungkook: I will probably sign up for at least one of your classes. I'll talk to my advisor about adding the minor.

I watched as the two of them chatted back and forth. If Jungkook signs up for Chim's spring classes, I don't see how things are going to change.

Hobi: Yeonjun was really nice and a great dancer.

Jungkook: He can sing and rap too. Had you met him before, Jimin?

Jimin: I've met him a couple times at the studio when I was recording with Yoongi. Yoongi took me to the cafeteria and I got to meet all the TXT guys, IU, PDogg ... I even met Hitman Bang.

Hobi: That's awesome!

Jimin: It was really nice seeing how much they seem to like and respect Yoongi. I even got complemented on my singing.

Jungkook: You did sound amazing on that track.

Jimin: Thanks, but my voice isn't that great.

Jungkook: I liked it.

Hobi: Chim, you sound like the angel that you are.

I could see that Jimin's cheeks were turning pink from the compliments.

Jimin: Yoongi says my voice suits his tastes.

He got a warm smile on his face, thinking about Yoongi.

Jungkook: (Trying to change the topic) Any chance I can get some more pointers before next week's solo?

Jimin: We should have time after Friday's class.

Hobi: I don't think you have to worry. You're the best student we have.

Jimin: We're not supposed to say that, but yeah. Hobi's right.

Jungkook: I'd still feel better if I could show you the whole routine. (Staring at Jimin)

Sometimes when I'm sitting here with the two of them, I feel like I could disappear and they wouldn't notice. Well, maybe Chim would, but not Jungkook. I should invite him out with Tae and me sometime. Maybe that would help?
