A loud bang shook the house. Roman immediately bolted upright from bed. Another banging noise made Roman flinch pretty hard. He cautiously went over to the window and pulled back the white curtains, seeing that the glass had many little droplets on it and was continually being pelted at from the outside. A third bang put Roman more on edge than he already was

He looked back at his beloved husband of a few months Virgil, who miraculously was still asleep despite the loud noise happening outside. Roman cursed at himself for this fear of thunder, thinking that it was stupid for an adult to be scared of something simple and childish like this. Roman then went downstairs so that he can get a drink and try to calm himself down

Roman carefully walked down the stairs and got himself a glass of water. He was about halfway done drinking when another loud noise boomed. The shock of it made Roman drop the glass of water, shattering on the tiled floor when they made contact. Roman's feet jerked up as he tried to not step on the shards of broken glass. His forest green eyes, which previously started to have tears in them, were now releasing the waterworks. Roman started to cry since he was beating himself up over his  fear of thunder

Roman then heard quiet and featherlight footsteps starting to walk over to him. He immediately tried to wipe away the tears so that Virgil doesn't see that he was crying. Virgil slowly approached Roman, delicately taking his hands and brought them both back to their bed. Virgil helped Roman sit down then he sat on his lap, his lavender painted nails began to wipe away Roman's tears on one hand with the other gently cupping Roman's cheek

¥Virgil¥
Ro, what's wrong?

{Roman}
Nothing, I'm okay Butterfly

¥Virgil¥
You have tears running down your face, did you get a nightmare or something like that?

Roman hesitantly nods, explaining what happened to Virgil

¥Virgil¥
You could have woken me up and told me this

{Roman}
But you needed to sleep

Roman's tears eventually dried up thanks to the help of Virgil, Roman hugged him tightly afterwards. Breathing in the scent of lavender and wisteria flowers from Virgil's hair helped Roman calm down fully, along with Virgil running his fingers through his hair

Roman started to yawn again so Virgil helped him lay down, then he laid next to his husband. Roman smiled at Virgil, thanking him for helping him calm down as his arms wrapped around Virgil. Virgil smiled back at Roman, kissing his cheek then fell asleep once more. Roman's eyes soon closed afterwards, not opening up during the remainder of the night
