-Family Portrait-

¥Virgil¥
Ro, just stay still. I can't sketch you on the family portrait without you modeling in front of my canvas

{Roman}
But just staying here is boring! I need to do something with my hands and I'll settle in my chair

¥Virgil¥
Fine, there's some fidgets in a box on a shelf in my studio

Roman briefly left the spot meant for his model, going to the box and picked out a red colored marble mesh, he went back to his spot and moved the marble back and forth in the mesh material

Virgil had an idea to paint a family portrait. He previously sketched himself, Remy, Violet, and their cats Prince and Storm. Roman was the final one left to start, then Virgil would start drawing the background. Each member of the family were standing in front of the fireplace, and Virgil planned to hang the completed piece above it. For now, Virgil needed to sketch Roman and the background before he could start painting

Eventually, he finished sketching the portrait. Virgil began painting after gathering materials. He did base coat after base coat until his arm was very tired. Virgil let the base coats dry then began to paint the skin colors of the humans and fur colors of the cats

Unfortunately, Virgil stayed up late so he could paint the portrait which affected his day to day. Being worried for his husband, Roman came into Virgil's studio at 1am to try and convince him to go to sleep. There, Roman saw a half asleep Virgil paint the portrait. Roman gently hugged his husband from behind, getting Virgil's attention

¥Virgil¥
Ro, I need to work on the portrait

{Roman}
At 1am? Surely you can leave it be until tomorrow, Butterfly. It's late and you need sleep

¥Virgil¥
But it's-

{Roman}
Bedtime, darling. Shall I tell you a bedtime story or would you want cuddles? Perhaps a lullaby instead?

¥Virgil¥
I'm not a kid anymore, I don't need a bedtime story to go to sleep

{Roman}
Then how about a lullaby. I know you can't resist my singing

¥Virgil¥
Fine. One song

Roman smiles, picking up Virgil bridal style and carried him to their room. Roman laid Virgil down on the bed and joined him, his arms gently going around Virgil's waist and carefully pulled him closer so that now Virgil's head laid on Roman's heart

Roman sang a lullaby he would sing to Violet when she was an infant and a younger Remy when he wouldn't sleep. Fortunately, Virgil fell asleep by the end of the lullaby. Roman smiled once again and gave Virgil some kisses on the top of his head

{Roman}
~whispering~
I love you

Roman then fell asleep for the night. The portrait gradually grew closer to completion, Virgil working on it in the middle of the day since Roman convinced him to not stay up all night to work on it. Eventually, the family watched in happiness as Virgil hung up the beautiful family portrait above the fireplace
