On the final day before spring break officially began, Roman took me to our spot which is a cluster of trees near the football field so that we could have a date. Even though we could talk through text or face time over spring break, we could be preoccupied with vacations and things like that so Roman planned a date for us. Roman gave me a bouquet of white roses when I arrived at the cluster of trees, he then led me to a picnic blanket in the middle of the trees. We sat down and talked, doing what people typically do on dates

Roman then put a box on my lap. It was wrapped in red wrapping paper decorated with Christmas Trees. Roman said that the only wrapping paper he had in his house was from Christmas and he didn't have enough to buy a new roll of wrapping paper at the local craft store since he spent his money on other things. I said that it was fine, then opened my gift

It was a simple silver ring with an amethyst that was acting as a pendant to a black cord that can fit around my neck

You're welcome, Butterfly. This was the reason that I didn't have enough money to wrap the box, actually. It was worth every single penny, though

I figured that me proposing to you would make you anxious with both school and college prep happening on top of planning a wedding, so this is a promise ring. I vow to stay true to you and keep you safe, I vow to take care of you and to respect your endeavors throughout our relationship, and I vow to love you forever. That is what the ring is symbolizing

I look at my ring for a second, then into Roman's forest green eyes which always reminds me of pine needles. I then hug Roman tightly, which makes us both fall back from how sudden my hug was. Roman lands on the blanket while I lay on his chest. I feel his hands run through my dyed purple hair as I continue to hug him. Eventually, he sits us both up and takes off his red letterman jacket which has his last name and football jersey number on the back. Roman drapes his jacket over my shoulders and takes my bouquet of white roses, picking one and gently placed it in my hair

He smiles a handsome smile at me then kisses me sweetly. I smile back at him once we pull away then I hear a ping sound from my phone. Recognizing the contact as my older brother Janus who said that he has been waiting for me to "come to his car preferably with things from my boyfriend so that we can gossip about my date"

Roman chuckled when I showed him the blue text bubble, then helped me stand up. He kissed me one last time and spun me around while doing so then escorted me to Janus's car with my bouquet of roses after cleaning up the picnic. Roman waved bye to me then Janus drove off

I would get more anxious then I already am if I was getting married while also in school and looking for colleges. No, the ring isn't an engagement ring. But, Roman told me that it's a promise ring instead. Basically, the ring symbolizes a bunch of promises that Roman has vowed to keep throughout our relationship

Now I desire to drink in solitude during this week. There's money on the counter if you want to buy us pizza or something for dinner tonight. Also if your boyfriend plans on visiting you at all, there's a ladder against your window

I giggle at Janus's sudden change in attitude, nodding at what he was saying. We get out of his car and go to my room, putting the roses in a vase on my bedside table. I properly put on Roman's letterman jacket then daydream about the future of our relationship
