Lily's pov
Click...click...click...click...
The clicking continued. That, and the distant sound of something growling slowly getting louder and louder. Every where hurt and no matter what I did, it felt like I couldn't move. I was afraid to. The pounding in my head disorientating me. Then I remembered what happened.
I forced my eyes open and my breath immediately caught in my throat as I found myself face to face with a walker. The car had completely flipped over and the clicking I could hear had been from the hazard lights blinking on and off.
Without hesitating, I unbuckled my seatbelt and fell onto the roof of the car, quickly crawling into the back seat, trying to put as much distance between me and it as I possibly could. However, just as I was about to kick my way out, that's when I remembered I wasn't alone and I spun back around. Lori was still unconscious in the drivers seat. A large cut above her eyebrow. I couldn't leave her.
I looked at the walker as the glass began breaking where it desperately tried to push its face through the crack in the wind shield, slowly squeezing its way through and ripping the skin from its bones in the process. "Lori...Lori...Lori." I whispered, shaking her, trying to wake her up, keeping my eyes on the walker. The last thing I wanted was for it to get to her, or me.
Lori didn't move and I had to do something, but what?
First things first, I had to deal with the walker. I reached down for the knife Daryl had given me, only to find an empty space on my belt. It wasn't there and hadn't fallen out where I'd been sitting. That's when I saw it. Daryl's knife and the two guns were over by Lori. I leaned over, doing my best to avoid the walkers snapping teeth through the window, but they were just out of my reach. I needed Lori to wake up.
"Lori...Lori...Lori, wake up...wake up." I repeated, gently shaking her. She still didn't move, and it was now dark outside. The walker squeezing its way further into the car.
Then, I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. I was slimmer than I remember and as I looked at my face, I could see a large gash on both my bottom lip and forehead. It at least explained my head pain, but it would in no way help us get out of here.
All of a sudden, Lori started so stir and she grunted a couple of times. "Lori?" I said again, tapping her shoulder. I was just glad she was alive, and then my mind went to the baby. Was the baby okay?
Her eyes opened slowly, and just like I'd been, she was in a bit of a daze before she noticed the walker in the windshield. Almost immediately she began panicking and opened her mouth to scream, but I got there first and was able to quickly cover it with my hand. I then bought my finger to my mouth as she turned to face me and I gestured for her to join me in the back. As of right now, we were only dealing with one walker, making any more noise would draw more, if the crash hadn't already.
She unbuckled her belt, falling onto the roof and quickly scrambled, trying to make her way out of the chair and into the back seat with me. That was when the walker got its hand through the glass and grabbed her hair. There was no stopping her this time as she began to scream.
"Lori!" I yelled as I tried to pull her away. It didn't work. It wasn't letting go. Instead, I tried reaching for Daryl's knife or even one of the guns, but like before, they were still out of my reach. "Lori, the knife." I pointed, turning to the walker, trying to push it off. Being careful not to move my hands too close to its mouth.
Lori reached down, blindly feeling around until she had her hand on the handle. She then pushed me back out of the way and swung the knife over her shoulder, stabbing the walker straight through the eye. The both of us panting, trying to catch our breath as I helped her into the back seat.
