There were melee weapons spread across one of the tables and each of the prisoners stood and examined which ones they were going to use. I had already pulled my knife from my belt and took a machete from the table. Rick had taken the other before any of the prisoners got a chance at them.

"This is Axel and Oscar." Tdog pointed at the man with the mustache and one of the innocent looking coloured inmates. "Andrew and Big Tiny." He pointed at the smallest prisoner and the large one. "And that is Jace and-"

"Tomas." The leader interrupted holding his hand out. I didn't bother shaking it and he just scowled back at me. "Now you tell me this. Why do I need this, when I got this?" He held a small pick axe out in front and then showed his gun.

"You don't fire guns. Not unless your back's up against a wall." Daryl growled.

I nodded my head slightly. I knew that all to well, if this morning was anything to go by. "Noise attracts them. It really riles them up." I glanced over at Daryl then back at the prisoners. I realised that was something Daryl would say. I'd definitely been around him for to long.

"We'll go in two by two. Daryl will run point with T. Lily you keep everyone in line with Jace. I'll bring up the rear with you." Rick pointed his machete at Andrew. "Stay tight, hold formation. No matter how close the walkers get...anyone breaks ranks we could all go down. Anyone runs off, they could get mistaken for a walker, end up with an axe to the head." He continued to rant towards the prisoners, making sure every last word sunk in.

Daryl pulled his crossbow onto his shoulder. "And that's where you aim. These things only go down with a head shot." He added onto Rick's speech.

"Ain't gotta tell us how to take out a man." Tomas huffed and looked at his fellow prison mates.

"That's not what he meant. They ain't men. They're something else." I snapped.

"Just remember to go for the brain." Rick rolled his eyes and started to step forward.

Daryl and Tdog both went up front and I walked next to Jace. I felt really uncomfortable being in the middle of the prisoners. But as long as the didn't try aything, they wouldn't end up with my knife through their heads. I meant it. One wrong move and they were walker bait.

As we made our way deeper into the prison, Daryl kept signalling for us to keep moving. Every corner he would take, his crossbow would lead with us all then following behind. I couldn't help but stare at the muscles on his arm as he tensed. What the hell was wrong with me? First I'm staring at his face and now his arms. What the actual hell?

"Man, it's too damn dark in here." Jace moaned. I glanced over to him to see his axe was facing down towards the ground.

"Look. You gotta hold it up high, out in front of you." I lifted his arm so that the axe was in front of him. "You're gonna hear them before you see them." I continued.

Jace looked at me and smiled. "Eyes in front." I snapped. I knew what he was doing. The smile disappeared from his face and he turned to keep walking.

"It's coming!" Axel yelled. He made me jump as he had somehow moved to be besides me. I put my finger to my mouth and mouthed a 'shh' before listening.

Sure enough there was the familiar sound of growling and Daryl raised his hand for us to stop. Then I saw the shadows on the walls behind and I watched as Daryl started to count down from three.

Before he could get to one I was pushed out of the way and the inmates all lept forward onto the walkers. Daryl, Rick, Tdog and I all stood and watched as they ignored everything we'd said about aiming for the head and not breaking formation. Aiming fir the chest area.
