It'd been at least a week since Daryl opened up to me about what he was doing before and after the shit hit the fan. Since that night, I haven't seen him much. He and Michonne were out during most of the days, looking for the Governor. Sometimes they'd even be gone over night and I couldn't help but worry about them. If the Gocernor was out there and he was watching us, he was probably waiting for the right time to pounce and take us out. It made me nervous, but I think I do well not to let anyone see it, especially not Daryl.
To help take my mind off of it, when Rick approached me a couple days ago about a run, I jumped to the opportunity. He wanted Tyler and I to take a small group out to look for some more supplies. It was a job that needed doing and I for one wasn't going to pass it up, just as I knew Daryl wouldn't if he were here.
At first, I hated the fact that Rick chosen Tyler to go with me, but seeing as I didn't have any other choice, I agreed. At the very least we'd have three of the Woodbury residents, Karen, Harry and Dara, with us so if things got ugly between Tyler and I, they'd be there to help us. On the other hand, I also think it's Rick's subtle little way of having us build a bond with the people from Woodbury. Then again, I guess we have to considering we we're now living under the same roof, so it didn't bother me too much.
"Hey!" Someone's voice suddenly startled me from my thoughts. I looked up and realised I'd stopped mid way putting our packs into the back of the car. I didn't even remember doing it, but I cleared my head as I turned in the direction the voice had come from.
Luckily enough for me, it was Briana, and she made her way over as I finished loading the bags.
Over this past week or so, her leg had almost completely healed and when Rick told the others about the run, we were about to go on, she jumped at the opportunity to take Tyler's place. In the back of my mind I wished she had, but Hershal had told her that it was best if she waited a little while longer before going out and I agreed. The last thing we wanted was for her to injure herself anymore by getting back to it before her leg was healed properly.
"I just interrupted a thought, didn't I?" She smiled as she stopped next to me.
"No. I was just thinking about the run." I replied as honestly as I could.
"Are you sure you're gonna be okay with him?" She asked as she glanced over at Tyler, who was talking to the others.
"I think so." I nodded. "If Daryl comes back and I'm not-"
"I'll tell him you love him. Don't worry." Briana cut me off before I could even finish. It was like she could read my mind and I couldn't help but laugh. "You miss him, don't you?"
I glanced over towards the treeline and nodded as I closed the boot of the car. "It's like he's never here." I sighed. "If something happens to him or Michonne..." I couldn't even say it out loud. If something happens to them out there, we'd have no way of knowing.
"Look, you know he's out there looking for the Governor. They both are." Briana said, placing her hand on my shoulder. "They're searching for him to keep us safe. To keep you safe. To make sure that no body else has to die because of him." She smiled as I turned back to face her. She was right, I knew that, but it didn't stop me from worrying.
Just as I opened my mouth to say something else, Tyler's voice echoed towards us from the other side of the courtyard "Lily!" I rolled my eyes and both Briana and I turned to face him as he and the three others began to approach the car. "You ready to head out?"
"As ready as I'll ever be." I replied.
He then nodded as he and the others began getting into the car. Tyler in the drivers seat and the other three in the back. That then left me the passenger seat next to Tyler.
