As Daryl deepened the kiss I felt myself go weak at the knees. I was so happy. It felt like nothing could spoil this moment. Clearly I'd spoken to soon.

Someone cleared their throat behind us and both Daryl and I pulled away from one another. We then both turned around to see Briana stood leaning up against the bars, arms folded, with a rather large smile on her face. I could feel the heat on my cheeks as I blushed.

I then looked at Daryl and his cheeks had also gone red. Probably a shade brighter than my own. "I'll see you tomorrow." He blushed and kissed my forehead. He then walked passed Briana and over to, what I assumed was his own cell.

"So..." Briana asked, raising her eyebrow.

"So what?" I giggled back.

"You and Daryl, huh?" She smiled again.

"Stop." I smiled back as she walked into the cell. "Anyway, how are you and Jace?"

"We're catching up. Surprisingly,  not much happens in a prison over twenty years." She sat down on her bunk with a smile. "Everything's working itself out, isn't it?"

I climbed up onto my bunk and lay down as she spoke. "Yeah. Yeah it is." I agreed.

I woke up the next morning naturally. No noises. No one purposely waking me up. Nothing. The cell block was completely quiet. Even Briana was still asleep, so I quietly climbed down from the top bunk and walked out onto the balcony. No one else was awake so I let out a slight yawn and walked down stairs.

Both Tyler and Merle were in the other room sitting at one of the tables with their heads down. It was at that moment that Judith started crying in Beth's cell. Beth then came out and fetched a bottle from the spare cell. She looked like she didn't have much sleep so I figured I'd help in any way I could.

I follwed her back into her cell to then find her half asleep with Judith in her arms. "Do you want me to take her? You should get some rest." I whispered.

Beth nodded her head sleepily and handed Judith over to me. An exhausted smile on her face. "She should go back to sleep after shes had that." Beth yawned.

"Alright. Now go to sleep. You need it." I nodded and walked back out of the cell.

I walked over and sat up against the wall where I started to feed Judith her bottle. Her little eyes kept opening and closing as she drank. I decided to sing a verse from one of my favorite songs to her. I didn't really know why. I wasn't one for singing in front of people but I think if I ever did have a child, I'd probably do the same.

"Forget the day you've had, forget the loves you've lived.
Oh you and I are famous for pretending to be kids.
Wash off all your grass stains, I'll pull of my shoes.
Lets love like we're kids, all shiny and new."

I sang quietly so that I wouldn't wake anyone else up. I then started humming the song as she finished her bottle. Beth was right. She started falling asleep in my arms as I burped her. Its like Briana said, things are falling back into place.

It wasn't too long before Hershal came out of his cell and stood up against the wall next to me. "Morning." He said quietly.

"Morning." I replied.

"My wife used to sing that song to my girls when they were younger. Kids isn't it?" He smiled.

"Yeah...Sorry, I didn't think anyone heard." I blushed.

Hershal chuckled. "You don't need to be embarrassed. You have a beautiful voice."

I smiled up at him and then looked down at Judith who was still asleep. This was probably the closest I was going to get to being a mother. We each had to look after her and make sure that she grows up the right way. Teaching her about what's right or wrong. Teaching her how to protect herself and telling her about all the people who kept her safe. Tell her about those we've lost. I know I for one can't see her be another name to add to the list of those who've been taken away.
