The wait seemed to go on forever as we all stood there quietly with our guns raised. I was still shaking and because of it I was making the fence rattle, which made it hard for me to focus. Even with Daryl's comfort and knowing he was there and had my back, I couldn't stop.

Then a cough rattled through me. It wasn't as bad or anything like the ones I had been getting, but it was still enough to make me lose focus, again. It felt like my heart was about to beat out of my chest, but I wasn't going anywhere. I wasn't going to let the Governor win. Especially considering he had Hershal and Michonne down there.

I knew everyone was watching me as I coughed into my arm again and I knew I needed to focus, so I took a deep breath and turned my attention back to the situation in hand. We couldn't afford me getting sloppy. Not now.

From this distance, none of us could hear anything. We just stood and waited for a signal. It's all we could do.

Then all of a sudden, I felt my heart skip a beat as I watched the Governor jump down from the tank, take Michonne's sword and hold it against Hershal's neck.

"No." I whispered as I held my gun loosely and gripped the chain link with my other hand.

I then glanced over and saw both Maggie and Beth take a step forward and they to grabbed the fence. The three of us with our guns held lose as we watched.

I was now shaking more than I had been and I took a step back away from the fence, unable to take my eyes from the Governor. He was still holding the sword to Hershal's neck and by the look of it, Rick was trying his best to calm the situation. From here I could only hope it was.

Even my breathing was uneven as I felt a tear run down my face. It was the waiting that was killing me and I'm pretty sure it was for Maggie and Beth too. That was their father down there and my godfather and Michonne was very much a part of this family. I don't know what we'd do without either of them.

After a little while longer, some sort of relief passed through me as I watched the Governor move the sword away from Hershal's neck and start to lower it. I could only hope that what ever Rick was saying seemed to be working.

Spoke to soon.

"No!" Maggie, Beth and I all screamed as we watched the Governor swing the sword back on Hershal, slicing his neck.

Without hesitation, I was the first one to fire my gun as Hershal's body fell to the ground in front of the Governor.

In that moment, all I saw was red and a some what feeling of joy washed over me as I watched the Governor stumble backwards as one of my bullets hit his upper right arm. I didn't stop there. I continued shooting and everyone else did the same around me until the bastard managed to get away around the side of the tank.

Amongst my tears and the blur of bullets, I watched as Michonne got out of the line of fire and Beth and Maggie's cries filled my ears. It was like I couldn't focus and I stopped shooting as Rick started to retreat and collapse behind the turned over bus. He must've been shot.

Then, amongst the cars, I could just about see someone moving. It was Hershal. He was still alive and trying to move away from the gun fire. "Hersh-" I screamed, but before I could finish, the Governor appeared out of no where, with Michonne's sword and started swinging. He decapitated Hershal completely.

I felt numb. Hershal was the man who took me in after all seemed lost. The man who taught me about why my dad did the things he did. The man who stuck up for me and saved my life so many times. Apart from Daryl, the man who was there after loosing my dad and my baby. My godfather. Gone.

Then all of a sudden, the tank started moving forward and bought the fence down with it as it rolled into the field.

I could hear people yelling all around me. The sound of bullets and explosions echoing off of the builing, but I couldn't move. It was like I was frozen to the spot. That was until Daryl grabbed my arm and pulled me away with him, with Briana with Jace close behind.
