Lily's pov
We'd been following the tracks for a couple days now and come across nothing but signs. Each one the same. Each one leading us in the direction towards Terminus. What we hadn't realised though, was how far it actually was. With no map to tell us where we were, other than the signs for Terminus, we had no way of knowing if we were getting close. The signs only showed us the tracks.
By the time the sun had set, we'd already made camp under an overpass. That was where Tyreese and Mika lay down on the tracks to sleep and I kept watch with Carol and Lizzie. Judith snuggled up in my arms.
"You can sleep Lizzie. We're okay." Carol said after a while, looking at Lizzie and glancing over at me. The girl hadn't taken her eyes off of the trees or let her hand slip from the handle of her knife.
Lizzie just turned to face her and shook her head. "If there's trouble I can take Judith. I can help."
I smiled and looked down at the sleeping baby in my arms. She'd been playing with my amulet before I gave her her bottle and she fell asleep. "You really think you can help me?" Carol asked.
"I know I can ma'am" Lizzie nodded. Carol just looked at me and I watched as what resembled pride cross her features. "Do you think there'll be kids there? At Terminus?" Lizzie then asked.
Carol nooded. "If their parents kept them safe. Like Lily and Tyreese kept all of you safe."
"I saved Tyreese." Lizzie sighed. "There were people shooting at him. I shot them. First a man, then a woman." She sighed again. "I didn't mean to shoot them in the head."
"You had to. I saw what happened. You saved Tyreese and you saved Judith." I smiled.
"Maybe there'll be kids there. Even if their parents couldn't keep them safe. Maybe the kids kept their parents safe."
"Yeah." I nodded. Now a days, kids were just as strong as their parents. Carl had taught me that and I knew, where ever he was, Rick wouldn't be to far away. Then, as I looked down at Judith, I realised just how out of their minds with worry or grief they must be feeling, not knowing where she was.
"Did you have kids?" Lizzie said, bringing me out of my thoughts and back into the conversation.
I looked over at Carol as Lizzie's question hovered in the air and thought back to when I first met her. Back then, we were out in the woods looking for her daughter and I remebered how stupid I'd been. I should've never let Tyler stop me from going after her. If I hadn't, maybe I'd have been able to bring her back and maybe she'd still be alive.
"I did." Carol finally replied. "A kid. A daughter." She smiled and looked up a the stars.
"What was she like?" Lizzie asked, showing full interest.
"She was sweet. She didn't have mean bone in her body." Carol sighed.
"Is that why she isn't here now?" Lizzie then said, looking down towards Tyreese. I knew Sophia wasn't here because of me and it's my fault shes dead.
"Yeah." Carol nodded and looked at Judith just as she began to squirm.
I looked over at Carol with apologetic eyes as I stood up and began rocking her. "Shhh." I whispered and soon enough, she went back to sleep. I then turned to Carol as I swayed. "Do you miss her?" I asked, already knowing the answer.
I watched Carol as tears filled her eyes, but she managed to hide it from Lizzie. "Everyday." She nodded.
"Would you miss me?" Lizzie asked, turning to look Carol dead in the eyes.
