As we continued driving, I couldn't help but feel guilty for the man. It could've just as easily been me back there, after Tyler left me or after we had to leave the farm but the thing was, we didn't know him. For all we knew, his vulnerability could've been just a distraction for him to get a hold of our supplies and run. There was no way of knowing for sure. I just couldn't stop thinking about it.
I allowed the guilty feeling to pass the more I thought about him taking our supplies. It was a problem that we couldn't afford to face, if we'd have stopped. Instead, to keep my mind occupied, I turned my attention back towards the window. The scenery around us looking rather familiar.
We continued down the road a little further before Michonne bought us to a stop next to a rail way track. We all then climbed out of the car and as I did I took in everything that was around me. This place seemed so familiar and then it hit me. This was where I used to live.
I was so lost in my own thoughts that I hadn't noticed Rick walking down the road with Carl and Michonne, towards the station, until he called my name. "Lily, you coming?"
"Yeah, sorry." I replied and jogged a little to catch up before we entered the police station. After all this time I didn't even recognise my own town. Not only that, but I might've actually lived in the same street as Rick and not realised until now. It was all so much to take in and it made me wonder if my house was still here.
I pushed that thought to the back of my mind as we walked into the armoury, only to find that someone had already been and ransacked the place. They'd taken everything and by the look on Rick's face, he wasn't too happy about it. I can't say I blame him though.
He rubbed the back of his neck and sighed a long and deep sigh, but before I could say anything, he kicked the wall on the far side and began pacing. That was when I saw a single bullet on the floor. I figured one extra bullet was better than nothing so I picked it up and put it into my bag. At least it was something.
"Got any other police stations in town." Michonne asked.
"I was the police here." Rick snapped. "Me and a few other guys. It ain't a big town." He stopped and stood still, clearly thinking about what other options we had. I cant say there were many. "There are other places to check. There may not be as many guns than what was in here, but-"
"We need as many guns that were in here." Michonne interrupted. "Ammo to."
"Yeah we do, but right now I only got a line on a couple. There's a few places out on main street. Bars, Liquor stores. Owners had a gun or two behind the counter that people didn't know about. I did. I signed the permits. They might still be there. Do you have a problem with that approach?" Rick turned to Michonne.
"No Rick. I don't have a problem." She shook her head and handed him another bullet. I hadn't even seen her pick it up.
For a second, Rick just stood there staring at the bullet before he took it from her hand and put it into my bag. Carl on the other hand was still giving Michonne a rather disapproving look.
I just rolled my eyes and walked out the room. I then began making my way up to the main road as I now knew where I was going.
I hadn't moved into the area long before the world went to shit. It was a couple of months at the least but most of that was either spent over at Briana's or helping my dad plan Fran's party...No. I had to stop myself as I felt the tears building in my eyes. I would not cry here. I had to keep myself focused. There could be walkers everywhere around here.
As I continued walking, I started to notice writings on the wall. 'AWAY WITH YOU'. It looked as though it was written in blood. The question was, was it human or walker?
