Once Carol and Mika got back me Tyreese and Carol took a couple of buckets out to the well. The more water we have the less trips we'll have to make.
I went and put the first bucket under the pump for Tyreese to pump the water into. Carol stood facing away from us whilst we filled the first three.
"Do you think I'm to hard on them?" Carol turned round.
"No. I get it." Tyreese shook his head.
"One can't kill walkers and the other won't hurt a living thing." She continued. "There both going to have to do both sooner or later. I have to get them there before we get to Terminus"
Tyreese filled the last bucket and sat down on the well. "Maybe we don't need to get to Terminus. I've been thinking, Mika's right, we can stay here. We can live here. I know Lizzie and Mika, I know Judith, I know you both. I trust you and I don't know if I can get that anywhere else. We can stay. We can live here."
On one hand we could go to Terminus and hope that it will be a fresh start or hope that the others from the prison have seen the signs. On the other I agree with Tyreese. This is one of those places that makes you feel like the world is how it was. I don't want to be alone. If I did, that would be my choice not anyone elses.
We each picked up a bucket and started heading back to the house. The well wasn't that far but it was away from the house.
We all heard a scream coming from the girls. We all dropped the buckets sending the water splashimg everywhere and ran. I pulled out my gun on the way.
I shot at a walker who had hold of Mikas leg as we got back to the house. They were all burnt and smoking. "Get behind us!" Carol yelled.
Me, Carol and Tyreese all stood and shot at the walkers as they approached the fence. Each one snarling and had smoke coming from them. I turned to the left and saw Lizzie with a gun, also shooting the walkers. Even Mika had a gun to hand.
"It's okay. You did it." Carol huged Lizzie as we finished of the walkers
We all went back inside and Judith was fast asleep in her crib. Lizzie sat at the table opposite me with Tyreese and Mika by the fire. The walkers must've veen from the fire.
It got dark quickly outside and Lizzie was still in some sort of state. "I had to help stop them." She sobbed.
"Do you understand what they are now?" Carol asked.
"I know. I know what I have to do now. I know." She looked at me. "I'm sorry for yelling."
"It's okay. It's ugly and scary but it does change you. That's how we get to be here. That's the cost. That's growing up now." I smiled.
"I don't want to hurt anyone." Mika spoke quietly. We all looked over to see Tyreese fast asleep in the arm chair. I don't think I'd blame him. "I don't want to be mean."
"You have to be sometimes, but just sometimes." Lizzie told her.
Tyreese started talking in his sleep and we all smiled. "Now we have a lot of pecans here." Carol placed the bowl in tbe middle of the table.
"A ton." Lizzie smiled.
"You getting sick of them yet?" Carol asked.
"Nope." Mika came over.
"Come on, girls." Carol stood up and went in the direction of the kitchen. "We'll make some food for when Tyreese wakes up."
The girls jumped up and followed Carol into the kitchen. It really does show how much Lizzie and Mika admire Carol. I went and sat down on the chair under the window and found myself falling to sleep.
