You didnt know what was worse about the harsh winters where you lived. Was it the snow storms and the freezing air, or was it the fact that you lived in the middle of no where. It was definitely a combination of the both, because once the snow storm hit and your car decided to be too cold to start, you couldn't go anywhere. Anywhere in walking distance. Luckily you were prepared for situations like this. You had your own shot gun and hand hunting skills. You could get yourself some deer in a matter of hours, but that meant going outside. Shit. Either walk four to six miles to a grocery store and pick up food, or hike through the deer-infested woods and get yourself an easy meal.
An easy meal sounds good.
And your stomach agreed by giving you a loud, steady growl. You found your heavy winter coat along with a pair of winter goggles and your shotgun—making sure it was fully loaded—and went off.
Your snow boots crunched in the snow with every step. You were trying to be quiet, but would it really matter with the wind howling? It's stupid to go hunting in the middle of a storm. However, it's not that bad. It's just the cold, unforgiving air and sharp winds. Deer couldn't possibly be out. You decided to was time to turn around.
Snap
You turned around to the blinding whiteness and trees behind you. That was definitely a deer. You slowly and cautiously approached the sound.
Snap
There it was again. You raised and readied your gun, aiming it at the scenery around you. You felt a warm air brush against the back of your neck, causing your hairs to raise. You quickly turned around and fired your gun. There was a thud and a beast dropped to the ground. Shit, it was huge. There was no doubt it was a deer-that was until you stepped closer. The fur was all too short and discolored. The antlers were bent and sharp. Not like a deers'. If it were to charge at something it would look like it got stabbed or something. No. This was no deer. It's hooves were too big and it's eyes were yellow and had slits for pupils.
Not. A. Deer.
Like any smart person you got the hell out of there. And as you trudged through the snow, back to your house, you weren't so luckily the second time you encountered it. You didn't hear the hooves charging towards you, and when you realized it was all too late. You were stabbed through the heart and flung to the ground. The deer stood above your body, and as your vision faded you saw it turn into..you.
