     I rushed through the forest, dodging trees and hanging branches. This wasn't going to work, my leg is way too injured. That bear-trap did a number on me. I paused and stretched my wings out. I flapped them a bit and then I started to fly off, the sound of the hunters in the distance, but not too distant. I flapped my wings and sighed as I felt the breeze on my face. "Another day getting awa-" A horrid scream ripped through my lips, cutting off my sentence. I whipped my head around and looked at where the pain was. My wing. My eyes widened in horror. "My wing! It is the most sensitive! How long will it take to he-" I thought before I realized that I was going down, straight down. The last thing I did was put my arms in front of my head and face, shielding anything that will harm me. Like the hard, solid ground.

      I woke up to the sound of screaming and gun shots. My eyes quickly opened and then my head shot up, quickly looking around. Immediate pain traveled through my body as pressure was applied to my wing. I looked around with my frightened eyes as I held in my scream. I couldn't see anything, nothing at all. What was with all the screaming, did the hunters get attacked by an animal......or one of those things? I laid on my side as I heard approaching footsteps in the grass. My eyes squeezed shut as I felt the person lay right behind me with an exhausted sigh. The person wrapped an arm around my waist and my breath hitched as I felt them breathing down my ear. "Why would someone want to hurt such a pretty thing?~" They cooed into my ear with a raspy voice. I felt him lift my feather up and examine it. He scoffed and gently put it down on the soft grass before brushing against me. I felt him scoot closer.

"I know you're awake."
