Chapter 30; Light

*Fedor’s POV*

He grunted like he could not spare me a single breath, I ignored the feeling of gratefulness and focused on the much more important emotion, annoyance. I liked and disliked the fact that he was here because I had only proven that he was right about me living in a questionable neighborhood. Fortunately, the irritation in my eyes had eased and I could open them a little, “Don’t open them yet, give it a minute.” “

Apparently, those were the words I was privy to, I could say anything, something but I stubbornly kept my mouth shut, I felt sorry that he was dragging around two people, I also ignored the powerful hand around my waist, but at the end of the day because I have such an active conscience, I muttered the words, “Thank you.” To which he sighed in response, this was why it always paid to be petty, although it would have been rude of me to not say anything and I wasn’t a rude person… ish.

A car, I didn’t think Chief owned one, even though he owned a ship, saying that out loud in my thoughts I discovered that I might have underestimated his financial capabilities. I felt him fastened my seat belt and I heard the painful grunts of the boy we had helped. I knew for some reason that he would drive his car on land and not in the sky like a maniac. The car was filled with silence and now I was beginning to feel awkward but was adamant about no longer talking, if he wanted to behave like a caveman, I would treat him like one. I heard him park and held his hand instead as he carried the younger boy into the hospital. Never liked the smell of hospitals, Chief led me to where I thought was the bathroom as he rinsed my face with water, lots of it, way too much of it until I struggled to breathe. Was he punishing me? I slapped his stomach and he eased his pressure.

“Sorry.” He said to me and handed me a towel while he undressed me.

“What are you doing?” I paused.

“Your clothes are contaminated, I had a spare shirt in the car, you can wear that instead and don’t worry, I won’t look.” He sounded exhausted and that almost wore me down.

“It’s not like it’s anything you haven’t seen before.” I mumbled.

“Feels like it.” He whispered.

I sighed and wore the shirt he handed to me, it smelt like him with soap, I opened my eyes slowly, it burned a little. I saw that he had taken me to a bathroom like I imagined, I saw him then handsome as ever and while I had imagined him with a stubborn gait, he just looked tired. “You look like shit.”

“I feel like it.” He was going to hold my hand but thought better of it as he took me to a ward where the boy was, he was awake and bandaged. I didn’t know we were gone for a while, he stared at me in confusion before comprehending what had happened.

“Thank you for your help, is there a way I can repay you?” He said with a shy smile.

“It’s okay, are you good? Do you feel better?”

“Yes. Miss, may I know your name?”

Good manners, I was impressed or maybe I was enjoying being called miss, nobody called me that; “I am Fedor and this is Chief Song. He is the one who brought us to the hospital. What were you doing there by yourself at this time of the night?”
