Chapter 46- Clash

*Fedor’s POV*

“I am so sorry, so sorry.” I repeated over and over again as Kora groaned while swearing at me with his eyes, “why would you sneak up to me at a time like this?!” I shrieked and apologized again.

His nose vibrated, “You are after my life, are you not?”

I shook my head, there was a loud noise that made both of us tense. I wanted nothing than to go back to my closet and hide again, Chief’s closet. He tried to stand while glaring at me, “Why did you help him escape? One of your ex boyfriends?”

“He’s a child.” We were both hiding behind the door now, I tried not to think about Chief, I had to have faith that he was alive, I could not comprehend any other thoughts. “How is it over there?”

“Crazy. Chief looks like a gentleman, you know someone who would rather solve war with peace talks but he is a total monster when he loses his head. I would not want to be on his bad side and I tell you who is, Joseph. He would be safer in prison than free for the Chief to get, you needed to have seen him!” Kora’s eyes lighted up. He held his hands up in a fighting position and punched the intruder only for it to be Carlos. I widened my eyes at him to say, “You see… it could have happened to anyone” but he shrugged instead.

Carlos let out a bunch of what I imagined would be Spanish cusses; the space was beginning to get cramped. “It is a madhouse out there, have you seen the Chief fight? It’s like a bulldog.” Carlos exclaimed after he had slammed Kora on his chest. I was curious to see the infamous Chief’s fight but I wasn’t stupid enough to risk my life. I was glad that he was holding his own, I let out a breath of relief and gave the two men by my side a strange glance.

“Aren’t you two supposed to be out there?”  I asked.

Carlos gave me an expression that meant I was crazy to even ask that, “We are not trained fighters, what about you?”

“I have done my part.” I muttered.

“Right, helping the people who attacked us escape,” Kora answered.

“She did WHAT?!”

“He was a kid and a slave. He could have killed me but didn’t, he had a tracker and everything.” I explained in a rush.

They kept quiet and exchanged glances, “Do you believe everything people say to you or he was just different?” Kora felt my forehead for signs of fever.

I slapped his hand away, “How often does this happen?”

“Almost never, not like this anyway,” Carlos answered.

“It’s intense today, these men are hardened criminals, and it is good we had the United Forces on call, it would have been the end of us today.” Kora relaxed into the wall as the gun sounds reduced. A masked man who was wounded had ran towards our side and was looking for a way to escape, we were still at the tail of Martha hidden behind the big door, Kora stood and shoved the man into the open sea without a second thought then joined us again. “Just doing my part.”
