Chapter 49-  Caught

*Chief Song POV*

I stared at Fedor’s door a little too hard before Kora cleared his throat. He had been frozen to the spot he found us, I had to give Fedor credit for being quick witted, no matter what I did, and she couldn’t be caught unprepared. Kora slowly walked up to me, “Er Chief, I…You… This is not the way to win a woman’s heart. Fedor, really? Isn’t she too …” He must have caught my glare before he stepped away calmly. “What I am trying to say is this? She could sue for sexual harassment, this could damage your reputation and if you haven’t noticed, she doesn’t feel the same way for you.” He sighed and put his hands on his waist, “Out of all people, I did not think that even you could be stuck in a one sided romance, maybe it’s true what they say. Karma comes for us all, you are paying for all those rejections.”

I scoffed and made my way to the room while he followed me closely, “I mean you could have any woman you want, why her? She is beautiful, actually very beautiful but she looks like the kind that would you. I don’t get it, love could happen to anyone, that’s true but why is she resisting you?”

“Right?” I asked with a shrug. His hands were clasped as he was deep in thoughts, “How could anyone resist me?” I moved closer to him, and when he noticed how close we were, he was startled and took several steps back.

He laughed nervously, “I always thought you were modest. I have a couple of ideas if you want to win her over but she is complicated. I mean she could also have proposals like you do, it would not be farfetched. From one man to another, can I be honest?”

“No.” I answered.

He ignored me but continued anyway until he followed me to my office and sat while he waited for me, “I won’t tell anyone what I witnessed today, it could hurt your reputation as the most sorted out bachelor in Tokhe Industries.” I shrugged like I couldn’t care less, “It doesn’t make sense, why wouldn’t she reciprocate your affection? There must be someone probably better or has more money.” He gasped, “Captain Kurt! I knew those two were chummy.”

“They are friends.” I countered in between gritted teeth.

He jeered, “Men and women can’t be friends especially when they are attractive. Maybe he has already proposed, men like that don’t waste time at all. I haven’t thought about it before but if he is your rival, he is a worthy competition, did you see how much of a good shot he was, a captain at that age. This is quite a dilemma, Chief you are in trouble.”

“I did not notice before but you talk a lot.” I muttered.

He waved his hands like it did not matter at all, “This is unprecedented. Two wholesome men after a maiden, one an engineer genius who is as quick with his fist as he is with his wit and a Captain whose authority and class is unrivaled. Is it true that he is related to Carl industries? That can’t be because if it is then you have lost.” He sighed in defeat. “We could find that out now, no, we shouldn’t. You have to be confident, but what’s confidence without money.” He was speaking to himself more, he looked genuinely concerned about this and while I had the urge to tease him further, I swallowed the urge.

“Kora, are you afraid to sleep alone tonight?” I cut him off.
