Chapter 33; Sunshine

*Chief Song POV*

“Earth to Chief!” Fedor repeated when all I did was stare at her and not said a word after Hello, she knew what she did to me, “Hi Slut.” She said with another wry smile as she closed her door.

“How long will that name last?” I groaned and followed behind as she made her way to the car, I opened the door and she grinned softly, I noticed how much she enjoys these little gestures and since I planned on making her fall for me, I was going to do anything and everything to ensure that she passed me those little soft glances I was growing addicted to. I joined her in the car and waited for her answer.

“Not long, afterall I do not want to let people know that you are not the innocent man you pretend to be.” She giggled. I liked it, I liked seeing her without her guard up, relaxed and playful.

I shook my head, “I don’t pretend to be anything and you are beautiful.”

“Sneaking that in there, are we?”

I leaned in to fasten her seatbelt, she smelt wonderful, what did she use? “I don’t have to sneak anything anywhere.” I whispered against her lips before lightly pecking her on the lips.

She chuckled, “I know, you gazed at me unabashedly earlier, I can tell you, it does something a woman’s ego especially since you look like that.”

“How do I look like Fedor?” I had changed my attire a thousand times today and ended up casual. It was a new experience for me to dress to impress and it was not a good time for me to figure out that I had no stylish bone in my body and opted for simpler is better.

“Delicious.” She leaned in and took a whiff, “And spicy. Did you dress up for me today Chief?” I did not know which one I liked best, when she called me by my name or by my title, I did not care as long as she called me. My stomach tightened I caught a glimpse of her neck, I muttered to myself that the point here was to prove I could control myself around her and show her that I could do more than stimulate her body and mine apparently.

“I even tried on a mascara.” I joked.

She snorts, “No, you did not. Now you’re just showing off your long lashes, lashes you don’t deserve by the way.”

I was nervous and was grateful for the small chatter, I did not know if she would appreciate the plans I had for her today or if I was wrong, either way it was a risky move and I was about to know if it would pay off or kill me a little. “Fedor, why don’t you tell me? How does one qualify to have long lashes?”

She sucked her bottom lip into her mouth as she thought, good thoughts Song, easy thoughts Song, Skies, cats, dogs, birds and bees. I couldn’t help my attraction to her apparently and I felt my trousers tightened, I distracted myself and started listing the chemical elements Alphabetically in my head to distract myself.

“Once again, earth to Song! Am I boring you?” I thought she was offended at first until I looked at her and I knew that she knew exactly what had happened. There were various kinds of stares Fedor had, she had the I want you to look, do not annoy me look, I will kill you in your sleep if you continue to stare and the one she uses when she teases me. I enjoyed the attention she showered on me and would take everything she had to give, “So what are the plans you have towards me, young man?”

“They are not nefarious; I can tell you that.” I summed it up in a few words, I wanted to see her reaction when I showed her what I had planned for the day.

She pouted, “I like nefarious activities.”

“I think you like everything, you eat everything and you are everything,” I whispered the last part out, she gave me one of those soft glances I suspected would soon become my reason for breathing, what my life was before her, I could barely remember.

Fedor laughed at first before turning to me, “You are a dangerous man Chief, a very dangerous man. Always so smooth with the ladies, no wonder you managed to break so many hearts.”

“Where did you hear that from? I do not break hearts. It was always a mutually beneficial decision and this is the first time I have a girlfriend.” I mentioned ever so casually, her eyes twinkled but I could not figure what they meant.

“I see, is that what I am? Your girlfriend?” She snickered.

“Yes, that was my understanding unless you were only using me for my body.” I gave her a look of shame.

She chortled, “Oh yes, because that is all that you are good for.”

“You wound me Fedor, you cut me deep.” I answered just as playfully.

“Where are we going? Are we leaving town? Oh no! Don’t tell me that you were secretly a serial killer!” She said dramatically like we were in a horror movie from the 80s. I replied with a cynical smile and didn’t answer. “I knew it, I knew that you were too good to be true, there had to be something wrong with you, what can I give you in exchange so you don’t kill me.” She eyed me suggestively.

I sighed and groaned out loud before sniggering, “I did not take you for the type to watch porn.”

“What type did you take me for? Surely, you don’t think I read in my free time.” She frowned at me and crossed her legs giving me a peek and her flawless legs.

“Apart from cheap porn, what else do you like to do in your free time?” I was curious about her, I was going to wait until we get there to ask about her but now seemed a good time as any.

“First, I don’t pay for porn. It is free and you already know I like to drink, watch movies and that pretty much sums it.” She concluded but I wasn’t taking it. “What about you? Apart from reading, working on Martha, and sleeping with random women, what else do you do in your free time?”

As I thought about it, she was right, it was possible to have very little hobbies, “I like to watch the stars under the moonlight, I love reading about you and right now; hanging out with you is my favorite thing to do, free time or not.”

Fedor clutched her heart like she was having a heart attack and I panicked until I saw her lips curved into a smile, “You are killing me here Song. Keep going and my heart will come out through my mouth.”

I grinned at her, “Fedor!”

“Song!” We laughed at each other before she asked, “how long was my psych evaluation?”

I was wary about how to answer, “She sent two binders, apparently you are one of her case studies and proof on why the government should make alternative homes for abandoned or orphaned children so she had a long and detailed paper on you added to the psych evaluation.”

Fedor was quiet for about a minute before replying, “I cannot believe I forgot about that, that was the only way I could get access to a psychiatrist. So, what am I? A cautionary tale?”

“No, actually. You are the exception to the norm and that is why she was taken with you. At least that was what she said.” I turned to a corner and parked the car.

Fedor was not aware that I had stopped the car, “Oh, I knew she could not have been completely a bitch, she allowed me sleep over at her place sometimes and gave a summer job as her assistant another time. Now that I think about it, it might have been to study me. I feel sooooo… sooooo…. Hmmmmm what is the word? I feel important. I did not think I was a big deal.” She beamed.

I heaved a sigh of relief, “I thought you would be angry.”

“What? Why? I was vaguely aware of what she was doing, but I didn’t think that I made much contribution as a test subject. It is possible I might have misunderstood her; I almost feel bad about putting cow’s dung into her car last Christmas … Oh well.” She finally took note of where we were, “I wasn’t serious about you being a serial killer, please don’t tell me that is what you are. I do not want to soil this dress with blood man, I …” I kissed her to shut her up. Another thing I have noticed, Fedor tended to ramble when she was nervous and I made her nervous. Good. “Okay, so you aren’t going to kill me, that’s good.”

I had brought her to one of the places I hid when I worked on Martha as a student, it was an abandoned warehouse in the middle of nowhere would what most people would think but it was the best hiding place, not so far out of town that it made it suspicious and covered by tall trees makes it the best place and also the chemical spill from ages ago made it quite unfavorable to strangers and passersby alike. I held her hand and we got in through a hidden back door, while we walked, Fedor cleared her throat and whispered, “You said nothing nefarious.”

I brought us to a stop, “And I meant it.” I switched on the light, I paid close attention to Fedor’s reaction as her eyes lit up and her mouth formed an O in surprise. The kind of surprise that delighted anyone, she looked at me and back at the place and repeated the same sequence for about three times before she stood on her heels, grabbed my neck and kissed me fiercely, appreciatively and most importantly passionately.

When she released me, her eyes were teary; “You did this, for me? When would you have had the time?”

“Came here after I left you last night.” I was blushing, I did not blush and I did not know what to do with myself or even where to look.

“God, you are so cute. You did this yourself? I did not see that coming from you.” She stepped into the room and looked at the romantic lights, “It smells like rainbows and chocolate in here.”

“It’s the candles, I tried to find the ones that would smell like you.” She paused at that and gave me one of her stares, the I want you so bad one.

“This is what you think I smell like? Who are you? And what have you done with my Chief?!” She exclaimed! I had decorated the big space with lights and candles, I was going for a candle lit dinner but when I started researching, I couldn’t stop, I covered the walls with new wall papers, I got the candles and I ensured every inch of the room was covered in different kinds of lanterns with the table and chair right in the middle, I ensured that the lights were not so bright that it hurts the eyes but enough that they illuminated the room. “Look at your ears and cheek, you are as red as … I love it, I … This… I love it. Thank you Song.” She hugged me and I held her tight in response just before she asked, “What do we do here, sit and look at lights?” I led her to the table and drew out her chair, “All this lady treatment is doing something to my soul, I cannot tell what it is yet but I like it.

“Are you going to comment on everything that I do?” I was exasperated and happy, I was happy.

“Yes!”

I removed my jacket and brought out the chicken, curry and rice that I had prepared and was about to cook when her eyes widened beyond my imagination, “Am I about to watch you cook?” She hummed and I nodded in affirmative. “Oh Chief Song, will you be my wife?”
