Chapter 61: Brash

*Chief Song POV*

I fucking missed her, I missed her so much that it physically hurt and I had spent the entire day busy to distract myself from the thought of her. Fuck my pride, fuck abstinence, fuck that dare, and I was losing my mind. It was taking longer to get to Phitain, the weather was not on our side, Martha could make the trip but it would have been too much of a show off, even the service was bad, I could not reach her and I was in a bad mood. The men had stayed away from me since I scolded Kora for taking too long to set the course, if not for that betrayer; he would not have had to take two roles and I wouldn’t have over reacted. I knew that my behavior was not what one would call normal but I was as irritable as the weather. We had stopped in Sici for shelter, I knew I had to put my emotions under control so that I wouldn’t do anything that I would regret later.

Naim knocked gently before he opened the door to my room, I must have glared at him because he raised up his hands, “We all miss her too but you have to stop behaving like a hungry stray dog.”

I gritted my teeth as I answered, “I am trying.”

“I know we have talked about it before but you haven’t made any coherent response but now, I know for sure. She has gotten under your skin bad, as bad as chicken pox on on a three year old.”

“What is that comparison?”

“I don’t know, It is something my old man used to say.” He winced at the sound of thunder, “Sicites believe that when the weather gets this bad, it is a sign that something memorable is about to happen. It could be good or bad, it is said that this is the gods tears, of happiness or of sadness, time will tell.”

I dropped what I was doing and stared blankly at him, “Why are we talking about gods?”

“Your emotional combustion reminds me of them, why are you restless?”

I sighed, “If I knew, I would have stopped by now.”

“When last did you nut?”

“What?”

“I crossed a line, so I will rephrase. Chief Song, when last did you blow off some steam, you look like you could need some good time. It is not like you two are together yet, even though I have no doubt that with your determination, you would win but for now, some blows and tangles might relax you.” He moved closer to me and removed the torch in my hand like I would use it on someone.

I sighed, “You are probably right. Any ideas?”

“I know a girl, she has a place, private and discrete. No one would have to know.”

“This is not another one of your spies, is it?”

“I stay out of your business and you stay out of mine.”

“Hmmmm, except that you are pretty much in my business at the moment.” I pointed out and rolled my sore shoulders, when last did I sleep? I asked myself.
