Chapter 79: Wonders
*Chief Song’s POV*
Queen continued eating like she had not said something so heavy and without any sign that this was a joke, Fedor kept looking at her while she waited for more information or anything that could explain the madness that had just taken place. When she got ahold of herself, she asked, “Did you read my diary by any chance? It had been missing for years but it just occurred to me that I might have lost it at your place and you read it and this is a way for you to mock me, or am I going crazy?” She asked me, “Did that just happen or have I begun to hallucinate?”
“No, you heard that right unless I live right with you at the insanity alley.”
“Why would I want to mock you for what was written in your diary unless you somehow had daydreamed being my daughter?” Queen smirked.
Fedor snickered, “It was more about the endless chocolate cakes than anything else.”
“I mean it, I would like to adopt you. You’re still young and I think I can do well as a mother, your mother.” She repeated again and I heard Fedor’s cup fall to the ground.
Fedor stood and sat back down, she paced around the table and sat back down again, “What are you talking about?”
Queen sat upright and started talking like she was in an interview, “I’ll admit that I have not been the best of mothers to Kurt so I can see why you would resist agreeing to this but if you look at it this way, you are already grown and past the stage of being impressionable so my influence would have nothing on your character. Which means I would not be able to ruin you as I did my son, I have lots of money and not a lot to spend on, we enjoy each other’s company but I am too old to be considered your friend, I made the mistake of choosing my ego once and I won’t repeat the same again. I care deeply for you and your well-being, I thought it would be fine to assist you from afar but the more I watched, the prouder I am of you. I know that I would not be able to replace your mother and I have no intention of doing that, before you think this request is out of pity; it is not. You understand that I am not easily led by emotions, this decision came after a number of considerations and the final knowledge that I do care for you and I am tired of pretending otherwise.” She sipped ever so elegantly, I felt like I was intruding on an intimate moment between them. “I can take credit for silently solving some of your financial issues but I had nothing on that beautiful soul of yours, I don’t think you realize how rare you are and the growth you have accumulated all through the years, you haven’t even touched the million khurs in your account. This is the only logical solution and one I selfishly and greedily came to, become my daughter Fedor.”
“This is crazy.” Fedor whispered aloud and her eyes widened like she had come to a realization, “My half sponsored scholarship to the university was not random, was it?”
“If it were full, you would have been suspicious. No offence, but you were not smart enough to win a full scholarship,” Queen confessed.
Fedor took a deep breath, “The cleaning job after you sacked me, was it you?”
“I asked for a favor from a friend.” Queen answered.
“Hmmmmm, the bar?”
