CHAPTER 54: GAMES

*Fedor’s POV*

I decided to try another approach and pretend that I did not understand what she had just insinuated, so I changed the subject and focused on another thing I had been curious about, “Are you married?”

She scoffed, “Never been. I could never stand a man not even after everything and no, I do not have trauma or anything like that, I just prefer to live without any entanglements. Man or child, and do not think it is because of my history, and maybe It is, What about you? Plans for marriage?”

I did this and now I was paying for it, “One day, hopefully.”

“I did not take you as the domestic type.” She looked genuinely surprised by my answer and now I was confused about what gave people that impression that I would want anything else.

“What type did you take me for?”

“The restless type, I swear I would have thought you had a spirit that did not like routine or stability.” She frowned at herself mostly, “Maybe I am losing my touch but I’ll ask again, you want to live with a man in a house and tend to children, you would also not mind doing that in addition to whatever you choose to do later in life as a career, doing it all?”

“I did not say anything about children, did I?” I defended but of course, children might be unavoidable unless of course, I avoided it, in all of my planning even before I met Chief, I had imagined myself married but never with children. I had never actually sat down to think about it realistically, it had always been the faraway dream and obvious conclusion, and why else did we live so hard? To just what, suffer every day and die without having someone to take over from whatever hell was here. Okay, that was dark, things could get better and maybe if by any chance I do one day have a child, they would have a better chance and life than I ever did, and that it could be a point to all of this. I hated thinking, no wonder I was having a headache, I would not be able to last as Petra’s friend.

“Hm”

“What?”

“Nothing, I don’t want to talk about this anymore.”

“Are you sure?” I asked.

“What?”

“That you’re a Christian?”

“For the twentieth time, I am.”

“I don’t think so.” I shrugged as if I said something that made sense.

“Why not?” She chuckled.

“You are not snobby enough, even Castle is more of a snob than you, and he has better skincare routine than I do.” She laughed and stood up; I followed as we made our way to the kitchen.  Carlos made up something for her but I was not paying attention, I kept focusing on her until I saw her blush. “Why did you turn red?”
