Chapter 59: Punked

*Fedor’s POV*

“The new girl has fangs and she wants to bite.” Fake Becky teased and while on an ordinary day, I did not consider myself violent, there was an eery annoying trait that she had and it made me want to shove my fist inside of her mouth aggressively.

I took a step forward and the girls raised their hands in surrender and I heard my assaulter say in a calm and gloating voice, “I told you guys she was no coward.”

I paused, completely stupefied as I watched them pay up to the girl who I thought was traumatized, I had a suspicion that I had been pranked, either that or I was losing my mind, or they were losing their mind. “What is happening?”

“You have been hazed!” One of the interns that I had thought could use expressions screamed and smiled brightly, she could compete with the sun and have a winning chance with how brightly she smiled. “I am sorry, we do this everytime, it is so much fun to tease new interns. The look on your face was worth it. I am Lucy, intern no 7.” She raised her hand for me to shake but I wasn’t falling for the same trick twice, “Seriously, it is okay.” I did not answer her as I looked back at the big girl who I thought had mental issues, her demeanor had completely changed and she looked confident and sure of herself.

The fake Becky sat on the table and sighed, “I don’t get it, the information I got said she was a selfish and a careful person, you can’t trust anyone anymore.” She muttered more to herself than anyone else.

The man with them chuckled, “I don’t know who was set up, you or her.” He raised his hand to me as well and introduced himself but I must have given him a dirty look when he sighed, “her sense of humor was a lie too, looks like Fedor here keeps a grudge. I am Trance.” He sat as well.

“What is this?”

“Oh dear, she is slow as well. Was anything true about her?” My assaulter turned victim turned prankster grinned at me as she took a bite of her food.

I groaned and sat with them, “Whose idea is this? This prank was neither fun nor funny.”

“To you.” Lucy commented and I was inclined to agree but I refused to give them that satisfaction. “Common, there is not much that happens around here, just paper upon paperwork, this was good stress relief, think of it this way; at least you don’t have to worry about any bullies at work.”

She had a point again, the girl who hadn’t said a word since joined in, “Except for Mr Charles over there, I think he must have shared a room once with the Devil. I am Fila, Intern no 5” She dropped a chocolate beside my plate of food shyly as she looked up at me.

I was still standing wondering if I should be offended or impressed by their acting, it was half of both. I was annoyed that I had fallen for the trap but also kind of grateful that my step forward had been misinterpreted as standing up for another person. No, that had not been it, I would not jeopardize my place here for anyone, I was simply trying to relieve the pain on my right foot, the shoes were new and hadn’t been broken in, and my last resort was to report them or something. If I got physical every time someone did something wrong to me or the people around me, I would be in jail and I did not do jail well, one time was enough for me to get that through my head.
