Chapter 35; New

*Chief Song POV*

She slept in my arms under the stars, tonight had gone better than I had imagined, she was with me; figuratively and literally. If I could, I thought that I would fly and dance but I could do neither. I adjusted the cover on her body, still finding it difficult to believe that she had agreed to give me a chance, give us a chance, I held her tighter as another wave of anxiety hit me and doubts filled my mind with a small voice practically telling me that I was going to disappoint her but I filed to the back of my mind, I had just spent the evening convincing Fedor to not think of the only negatives in her what if, I smiled at the small comfort her presence gave me. I thought about what she wanted and what I wanted, she was right about us wanting different things but dreams changed as much as humans did. I slept to the thoughts about her and what I could offer her, I woke up to the morning sunlight on my face and I winced at the sudden light, my arm felt lighter as I could not find the woman that I had slept next to and tried to remember that last night had not been a dream and I went inside to look for her, I tried to withhold my sigh of relief when I saw her barefooted in her short dress and one of my hoodies that I had around.

I leaned on the wall and watched her fry eggs or tried to since she had one of my tools shielding her from the splash of the hot oil. It was a scene where her hair was tied up in a shape I could not say I understand, she was successful in making the scrambled eggs and I did not want to alert her to my presence as she toasted the bread on the same frying pan, she had dropped the “shield” and was confidently flipping the bread, she had put them in a tray and made do with a paper cup as she made tea and was on her way up to the roof when she stopped in her tracks when she saw me. Fedor gave me a small shy smile before turning back into the makeshift dining of yesterday and beckoned me over. I conceded and joined her, when I sat she gave me a peck on my cheek. She seemed to run over some thoughts then pecked me on my cheek three more times. What I felt was different from lust or even love, if I had to put it into words, I felt worthy; it is the best way to describe how cherished I felt at this very moment. It was new, to have someone who was mine as much as I was hers.

“Look at you blush, I should do this more often.” She kissed my forehead before sitting then took a sip of tea before spitting it out and looked at me accusingly, there went our serene morning. I snickered, she huffed and stared at me ridiculously, “What on earth is in that?” She wheezed while she licked the bread to get rid of the bitter taste.

“Cocoa,” I answered simply and took a drink but unlike her, I did not spit it out. I sighed in satisfaction before swallowing.

“That is not Cocoa, Cocoa doesn’t taste like the Devil’s piss.” She chewed on her bread furiously while eyeing me like I was a strange human.

I chuckled, “It is the healthy type, not those sugar-concentrated ones. You should take more of this, for your health.”

She shook her head and went and got the leftover wine from yesterday and swallowed, I was confused as to why she thought wine was the better match for bread. “I’d rather die early than live long because of shit like that, I cannot believe you are drinking that like it was edible.” She frowned at me.

“You are the one drinking alcohol first thing in the morning. I can assure you, keep that going and you will have your wish fulfilled.” I jabbed because I knew she could take as much as she could give.
