CHAPTER 53- NOTHING LIKE THAT
*Fedor’s POV*
Her grey hair against the backdrop of the docking station made her look somehow ethereal, she sorta resembled a person who knew what they were doing unlike most that are figuring it out like I am, I guess it is the kind of wisdom that came with age. She came closer to me and smiled kindly, until today, I did not think that was a thing, to smile kindly upon others, “No, I cannot read minds, you just wear yours on your face.” She chuckled, her voice was so gentle, it was odd and comforting.
I should be embarrassed but I shrugged instead and hid behind Chief, who stepped forward, “We are your escort, we will ensure you get to Kolanphur safe and sound.”
“I am sure of that Chief.” She answered, “I suggest that we get going before they see us, they wouldn’t allow us leave without so much as a breakfast unless you haven’t had enough delay for the past few days.” She said with a twinkle in her eye and I looked behind her, she wasn’t kidding. There were about ten people rushing to the dock, “Anytime now, Chief.”
We rushed back into Martha, we were not expecting to continue our trip so quickly so we had to undo everything that we had done so far, all of us were in Martha and were slowly making our way to the sea when they arrived.
“Not fair Petra.” The first man who had arrived shouted.
“Thank you for your generosity but it is time for me to move. I am no longer needed here.” She shouted back with excitement in her voice, if you heard only her, you wouldn’t guess the main of grey hair on her head.
The man put his hands on his waist as if used to her antiques, “At least take with you some souvenirs, it would reflect badly on us if you were to go back empty handed.” He screamed.
“My hands might be empty but my heart is full.” Oh she was full of mischief, this woman. Chief looked on amused by the exchange, more of them came to see her off and while she was full of smiles, I could sense a certain sadness behind the smiles, I guess this was what missionaries do, I don’t know why we had to escort her, she seemed pretty loved and catered to, there was so much I do not know about the world. They stood until they were too far to see but she stood at the deck for a while, I was fascinated by her and I did a terrible job of hiding it.
“Stop staring.” Castle whispered.
“I can’t help it, she’s magnificent,” I answered.
“How so?” Kora asked.
“I can’t place my finger on it but if there was a word to describe it, she feels centered and is she in danger? Why is it our mission to deliver her? Am I the only one who thinks there is something odd with this? Never mind, none of our assignments have ever strike me as normal.”
“You don’t know the beginning of it.” Kora answered.
“Stop leering and come here, I know you want to.” She looked back at me, Castle and Kora shuffled away like they had been had been caught with their hands down the pot of soup.
