Chapter 60: Loner

*Fedor’s POV*

“Is this true?” The senior staff was a middle aged woman with a girly voice, we had been called into her office as she asked if it was true that I a new girl in the department somehow made it so that I influenced other interns into having an unofficial breakroom. All on my first day, I guess I should be flattered since it was a CCTV blind spot, I had to be on Chief’s level of genius and Kora’s level of chaos to achieve such a feat in a short period.

“No, it isn’t. I hadn’t even spent up to 30 seconds there before you showed up, this is my first day and it would be unrealistic for me to have done all of that on my first day.” I tried to not sound sarcastic.

Fake Becky scoffed, “She has been working in Tokhe before now, It might have been her first day in Admin but she has been here for months.”

“Is that true?” I was beginning to think these were the only words she spoke and I simmered the annoyance brimming in me, It was my word against all of them and my words meant shit here.

“It is my first day here and while I might have been working under Chief Song.” I allowed the pun in that statement go through me before I continued, “I have not had the luxury of going to other departments except when I stock up the ship.” This was ridiculous in the first place and if she couldn’t see that, I did not know what else to do.

“Are you saying these people are lying against you?” she asked with a raised brow.

“Yes.” I answered.

Neka tried to draw my attention but I was done, I had tried to give humans the chance because my experience on the ship had been different from the usual. I had forgotten how they could be, The senior staff looked at all of us in her office and sighed, she was about to talk when a booming voice screamed “No 4,” of course the monster would be looking for me as if this could not get any worse and it didn’t. The door opened to a pissed off Charles, “You are supposed to be joined at my hip No 4! What is happening” he came to the realization that there were one too many people in the cramped space.

The senior staff became nervous and explained the situation, apparent the monster scared off more than just the interns, he scoffed after listening, “That break room has been there way before she came along, we only pretend not to know about it as long as the interns get their work done and right now, she had plenty of it to do. If anyone deserved to be punished, it is obviously not her. Usually, I would let this slide since what you interns do is harmless fun but ganging up to lie against one of your own, that is an attitude I will not condone.” Suddenly he became Mr. Charles to me, help comes in weird places I had to say. He continued, “I want a public apology rendered to No 4 and a complete reset of the library from all of you before the end of this week.”

“The library?” Lucy whispered in horror.

“The library.” He answered with a glower that caused her to shuffle behind Neka.

“I guess that is settled.” The senior staff answered with a shiver.
