Chapter 39- Actions

*Chief Song POV*

I all but dragged her outside the restaurant leaving George alone with his never ending course when she slaps my hand away and smiled. I knew there was something coming, she sighed. “Chief Song, I am hungry and I intend on finishing the course George has set us on, starting and never finishing isn’t a principle I want to be known for, besides it is rude to leave your best friend alone after he graciously invited us out. You might choose to go but I am going back and getting to dessert.”

“Oh oh” Alarm bells rung in my head. “Did I do anything wrong?”

She grinned again, “No, Chief … No. I am hungry and I want to eat. See, I don’t have the emotional intelligence to separate my love life and my hungry life.”

Okay, we were obviously not over this subject and now she had started the thing she does where she says nothing that makes sense. How do I even win at this point considering how illogical she sounded, “I see.”

“Tsk, your eyes do the seeing right?” She asked innocently.

I knew she was getting nowhere but I had to ask, “Is there another part of the body for sight?”

“No, because it is one body. Where you go, the entire part follows, right,” She pointed out and either I had spent too much time with her that I was beginning to understand where she was going or I was losing my sense as well. She paused for dramatic effect, “It’s not like your legs go someplace else to establish dominance and your eyes stay here to talk to me. These are different parts, yet inseparable. That is you Chief, your work is practically your life so let’s say we are on the sea and I have to do grunt work because I am the least, What did you think would happen? I would sneak into your bed at night so we have the time to be in a relationship or are we only in a relationship when we are on breaks?”

I had not thought that far I had to admit but I thought it was glaring that we had to keep this a secret and not even for me, I had nothing to lose while she had everything on the line. “What about you? Were you expecting the crew to undermine my authority because I refused to follow the organization’s policy because you are my girlfriend? Did you think you would what? Be above Joseph in terms of hierarchy because we are dating? I don’t understand where your mind is at?”

“Is everything so black and white for you?” She asked like she thought there might be something seriously wrong with my head.

I groaned, “Fedor.”

“Fine, if I have to say it. I did not expect such obvious treatment; I am not a stupid spoilt brat. I wasn’t expecting you to publicly declare our attraction for me, I like the secret route, but I expect sweet glances, and hidden rendezvous as you try to help me in the workplace, I expect that when you divide us into various units you put me with you because you want to spend time with me, I was looking forward to having a secret relationship with you. It has always been a fantasy of mine to get with the boss if you know what I mean but it was just the both of us and your friend George, your absolute declaration made it clear that the relationship wouldn’t even exist when we are on duty.” She shouted the last part out in frustration.
