Chapter 85: Moving On

*Chief Song POV*

Fedor was doing a good job of hiding her feelings and if not for the fact that I was obsessed with her, I would not have noticed how nervous she was, It took everything I had not to gather her in my arms, when I was called into Childe’s office, I had my suspicions. Kora gave me the full extent as to what had happened, I could not believe I had forgotten how malicious Susan was and I hated that I did not predict this happening so soon, Childe knew that she could not control me and which was why she had every intentions of making Fedor do that, leaving Tokhe at this point was going to be a pain. I did not mind if that gave Fedor the peace she deserved, I also knew Fedor would not have loved to run, that was what it would seem to her considering the way she was being treated. If I had my way, we would both be out of here but it would not be fair to Fedor, she worked hard to get to where she was and I would not be the reason she gives it up, which was why I allowed Childe provide her with the illusion of a choice and even if she did choose me, I was not planning to stay. The breach of contract compensation might have been a bigger deal if I had not had a plan and at this point, I did not know what to do and what to say, the best that I could do was stand by her side.

Hopefully, my presence makes it better for her, I counted the days until the end of her internship, thankfully, it was not far off the end of my contract. One day at a time, Fedor was at work and after the debacle with Childe, I knew what was next and so I was not surprised when I got a call from Frederick for a meeting, the man who had hired me on behalf of the company, I took my time getting to his office simply because I knew how much it would annoy him. Once I got to his office and I sat on the comfortable couch, he ranted for a few minutes about nonsense about how he had helped me and provided me the opportunity to be where I was today. Frederick was a good head-hunter but not that much of a good person. He had an inflated ego and a manipulative streak. When he had enough about ranting about what he had done for me, and he saw that it had no effect whatsoever; he proceeded to attack, “Of all the women in Tokhe, you had to go for the only one you are not supposed to and what? You did not break any rules? Are you kidding me or do you think the entire management are fools?”

I purposely was relaxed as I knew it would get to him as I responded, “Are you here to fire me?”

He scoffed, “So that we would have to pay the compensation; we are not idiots.”

“That’s not the only reason you are not firing me, this is basically a cuff on my wrist; to pretend that I don’t have any bargaining tool. I know what Tokhe wants from me and this time, when I am done there would be nothing keeping me tied to you.”

He calmed down, “What are you talking about?”

“At first, I was confused and baffled as to why everyone was interested in my relationship then it occurred to me after the entire thing with Childe was too quick and easy. Queen messed up your plan, did she not?”

Frederick shifted uncomfortably, “What insanity are you talking about?”

“Relax Frederick, I am getting somewhere. The scandal broke out at the right time, I mean an outsider could not post on the official forum without someone high up on the inside, I mean not even Charles can post on the forum because that is the duty of the Communications unit. I would not have thought about it if not that your call came nearly immediately and everything clicked. You are fast, you were the hand that posted on the forum, you wanted Childe to fire Fedor and then you would pretend to save her by ensuring I renewed the contract. Your mouth must have watered when the opportunity came, it might have worked and it might not have; we would never know. I was going to see what your plan B was and emotionally blackmailing me was your route, common Frederick!”
