In every timeline that Yeonjun Choi has ever seen, he and Kai have fallen in love. Every timeline except the one he's living in. He wants him. Kai doesn't want him back.

This isn't new information either. Only the most elite group of individuals can infiltrate timelines. The rest of the world can flip through them on the internet. It's as easy as subscribing to the channel that displays it. "The collection" (as the designer called it) became an addiction to many. They waste their lives staring at themselves being greater than they currently are. They drown in self pity while becoming invested in a reality that isn't theirs.

Kai refused to take part in this. He didn't care what his other selves were doing. He didn't care if he was a prince in one timeline or a villian in the other. The only reality that deserved his attention was the one he was forced to live in. Kai fell in love with Yeonjun in different realities. So what? He wasn't in love with him now nor did he care to be.

Yeonjun looked up at black the sky to see if his billboard was going to be displayed yet. The city was so populated, every building had at least 20 floors. The richest lived at the top so they could have sunlight. "The Canopy" as they called them. Like a rainforest, sunlight struggled to reach the bottom. The poorest families tended to live in darkness. Their only lights were from the street lanterns and the neon glows of advertisements. That's where Yeonjun lived as he sat in an empty booth of his family's restaurant. According to the clock on his phone, the ad would be displayed any second now.

Drones fell into place to project the next ad. Kai was busy writing his late night report. Neon lights flashed through the window in his 25th floor luxury condo. Nothing new. He just figured it was another coca-cola commercial again. That was until he heard that familiar red head's voice. The ad was a short montage of 10 different universes where Yeonjun and Kai were a couple. It was disguised as a match making company while ending with their signature phrase, "fate awaits you." Kai rolled his eyes then snapped the blinds shut. He muttered "fate... that's bullshit."

Yeonjun paid that company more than he should've for that ad but he was proud of how it turned out. When the next ad played, he went back to mopping the floor. Customers were particularly messy today. This was going to take a while as he picked up a broken bottle of beer. Bits of sticky brown glass sliced his hand. Yeonjun winced at the pain. He was more upset that he now had to mop his own blood than his bleeding fingertips. There was a knock at the door. It was that gorgeous tall blonde. The street lights gave him the perfect backlight as he waited outside.

When the door opened, Kai walked through in annoyance. That faded when he saw Yeonjun's bleeding hand. He gently took his wrist then sat them down. A handful of napkins were used to dab the wound. Another handful were pressed onto it to stop the bleeding.

Yeonjun's heart raced as Kai tightly held his hand. He nervously whispered "thank you."

Kai didn't look up as he replaced the napkins again. "No problem. How'd you hurt yourself anyways?"

"Customer broke a bottle. I thought I didn't need the gloves. I was wrong." Blush came to Yeonjun's cheeks when he saw the smallest upwards curve on Kai's lips. His face felt hot as he bit his lip. "You were mad at me weren't you?"

"A little. Who doesn't love having a large billboard of them and some guy kissing on a screen for the world to see?" Kai pulled the napkins off when the cuts stopped bleeding. "Where's your first aid kit?" Yeonjun pointed in a general direction. Kai left to find it. Five minutes later, he sat back down to wrap up the redhead's fingers. "Before I file a restraining order, why do you care so much?"

Yeonjun sighed. He couldn't meet Kai's eyes from how shamful the truth was. "You really haven't seen any other universes have you..."

"No."
