Short Story Collection- Chapter: New Start

➡️What if Beomgyu never broke up with his girlfriend?

Beomgyu was nervous.

He was getting ready for a benefit he absolutely did not want to go to. His girlfriend insisted because he was very attractive when he dressed up. He knew this. He also knew she only wanted him there as a shiny toy to brag about.

They fell out of love a while ago. Beomgyu doubted he ever loved her in the first place. He questioned his sexuality every time he saw an attractive man. Tall blondes in particular were his weakness. He ended up cheating on her once with a guy. The terrible sex with him was still more satisfying than any with her.

Still, he stayed with her because this was familiar. She made a lot more than him too. That's why he had no say in where their new apartment was. Their place was ridiculously far from his job and his friends. He seriously hated his life as he angrily threw his tie on the ground. The invitation rested on the bed. It advertised an open bar. That's the only thing that made him willing to go.

When they arrived, Beomgyu ditched his girlfriend and headed straight towards the bar. "Jack and coke. Please." He looked up to see the bartender laughing. His name tag said "Soobin" on it. "Is something funny Soobin?"

"Sorry, I wasn't laughing at you. I was laughing at my boss." He pointed over towards the door. "Someone is hitting on him again. Poor girl doesn't know he's gay."

Beomgyu turned around to see the back of a tall blonde's head. Soobin pretended he had an emergency and asked him to come over. The blonde's hair floated in his stride. He stood to the side and joked "thank you so much. You saved me." This time, Beomgyu had a better look at his face. He had never seen anyone like him in his life. His mixed features made him stunningly attractive. A greek god come to reality. His suit was expensive. Perfectly tailored to his body. His leather shoes shined under the soft glow of the chandelier. Beomgyu was starstruck.

Soobin asked "the usual?"

"God, no. If I'm expected to stay here then I need something much stronger."

That gave Beomgyu the excuse he needed to talk to him. "What's your usual?" He almost died on the spot when the blonde smiled at him.

"A water. I like to sell my alcohol. Not drink it. What are you getting?"

"A Jack and coke..."

"That sounds great. I'll have one too."

Beomgyu raised his glass after the blonde received his. "Cheers."

"Cheers." The blonde took a sip. "Haven't had one of those in a while. What's your name? I'm Kai."

"Beomgyu. Soobin said you're his boss?"

"Did he now?" Kai looked towards his employee who was avoiding him by helping customers on the opposite end of the bar. Soobin knew that he hated people knowing his financial status. Kai smirked then looked back towards Beomgyu. "I own a string of restaurants in the area. I'm actually in the process of opening another. I just wish I had another bartender as good as Soobin. I felt awful having to drag him here tonight."

"I have no idea how to bartend but I'd love to learn from you!" Beomgyu's ears became red when Kai grinned.

"That's nice of you to offer. Do you need a job or something?"

Beomgyu's girlfriend put her arm around his shoulder. She whined "baby! You promised to be with me tonight! You know I need to look good to impress my boss!" Beomgyu saw the disappointment in Kai's face. "I was talking to someone else. Someone I have a lot of interest in." The blonde's ears perked up as his lips faintly curved upwards. "We were having a really good time until you interrupted us."
