Haymitch walked into Peeta's room with Lea closely behind him. Peeta immediately looked at Haymitch, not seeing Lea yet.
"What do you want now, Haymitch? Are you going to tell me again how not of what I am saying is true, that Katniss is not a mutt," Peeta scoffed, an annoyed look on his face.
"No, Peeta, I am not. I have someone with me, someone who really wants to talk to you," Haymitch said softly, trying not to anger Peeta. "But you can tell me if you don't want to talk to her," He added.
"Who is it? Katniss?" Peeta sneered.
Lea then appeared from behind Haymitch. "Hey Peeta bread," Lea said softly
"El?" Peeta said, his voice thick with emotion. "El, is that really you?" Peeta asked, his voice full of hope.
"Yes, Peeta bread, it is really me. Do you want to talk to me? If not, I can go away," Lea said, with a soft smile on her face.
"No, please, don't go away," Peeta sighed. "I would really love to talk to you," He added.
Lea then walks closer to Peeta's bed.
"Can I give you a hug?" Lea asked him.
"I would love a hug," Peeta nodded.
Lea then opened her arms, giving Peeta a hug, which he gladly accepted.
Peeta opened his mouth to talk but hesitated with Haymitch still there. Lea saw and looked over to Haymitch, giving him a reassuring nod that it was okay for him to leave the room, so that she could talk to Peeta all by himself.
Haymitch nodded back, understanding the message Lea was trying to give him. He then left the room, joining Finnick, who was also waiting outside of the room.
"I'm glad we are alone," Peeta said with a soft smile on his face. "Please sit down," He said, pointing to a spot on his bed in front of him. Lea then sat down in the bed next to him.
"El, I am so happy to see you. After a while, you stopped visiting me in the capitol, and I thought you didn't want to see me anymore," Peeta sighed.
"Oh no, Peeta bread, I didn't want to stop visiting you, Our visits were always the bright part of my day, but I..." Lea hesitated. "After I went against Snow's direct orders and I warned the people in District 13 about the attack that the capitol was planning to do on them, he locked me in a different room and didn't let me see anyone. I am so sorry," Lea added.
"Please don't apologize, El. I am glad I know now. It's not your fault at all," Peeta said. "What did they do to you? Did they hurt you?" He added.
Lea looked down, hesitating to talk about it. "Well, yeah Snow wasn't happy with how I acted during the last interview, and let's just say his being nice to me was over." Lea sighed
"How did you know about the Capitol wanting to attack District 13?" Peeta asked.
"Did you hear my interview after yours?" Lea asked him
"No, I didn't. After my interview, they brought me back to my room," Peeta replied.
"Well, in my interview, I said I was in love with Nathan Crane and that we were engaged," Lea began, her voice low. "But none of that was true. Snow forced me to say it."
She paused, drawing in a shaky breath before continuing. "Before the interview, I went down to Snow's office. I overheard him talking with Nathan and his father. First, they were discussing how Snow had actually ordered Plutarch to kill me in the arena. Before that, he told me it was Plutarch who tried to have me killed and that Snow had saved me, and I, I was naive enough to believe it."
