Chapter 5- I can't believe you

Riley left Julia's condo as soon as the sun had risen, thinking if she made it this far without choking in her own vomit she could make it further. She walked across the hall with her phone, car keys, plus house and room keys in her hand. Riley let herself into Daniel's condo that not so surprisingly held Max passed out on the couch.

She held her SD card in her hand tightly as she slipped her heels off at the door. Riley heard Max start to roll over on the couch, slowly being woken up by the small noises that she was creating. She walked into the kitchen, trying to be as quiet as possible, even though she knew Max was an early riser, he'd be up any minute anyways.

Riley set the SD card on the counter, getting stuff out to make a cup of coffee. Riley tried to push down the fact that Julia hooked up with Arthur, because he's hooked up with everyone. They weren't together, she couldn't be upset, Julia had him once but Riley had him now. She tried to find the humor in it, but there wasn't any.
She took a deep breath, grabbing a bottle of water and Advil while the coffee was brewing. Riley walked over to where Max was laying, getting flashbacks for a moment as she set the bottles down on the small coffee table in-front of him.

"Thank you" He murmured as Riley walked back into the kitchen quietly.

"Do you want any coffee?" She asked him, trying to keep it at a hushed volume to not wake up Daniel. Because he for one, was not a morning person. Riley heard Max groan as he started sitting up, instantly going for the bottle of Advil on the table.

"If it's black" He tells her, and she nods, getting out two cups and waiting for the coffee to finish.

Riley leaned against the counter top, glancing over at Max when he got up, heading into the kitchen. She looked away from him to pour herself and him a cup of coffee.

"You found the SD card?" He asked with a rasp in his voice, seeing it on the counter.

"Yeah," Riley said quietly, nodding slowly and passing him a cup of coffee. "Julia had it"

"What?" Max asked shocked, "I knew I didn't trust her, I told Daniel that multiple times"

"Don't tell Daniel" Riley whispered, looking into Max's eyes. "I don't want him to feel bad, so I'm just going to push past it, there's nothing I can do about it now right?"

"I guess" Max said, "But I mean couldn't we sue her?"

"I don't want to go back to court" Riley said, taking the card and her coffee cup and heading out of the room. Not realizing a key word that she had let slip. Back. Max caught it, but he knew from past experiences not to press with Riley, and if he wanted her back, he definitely wasn't going to now.

Riley nearly bumped into Daniel in the hallway when she was walking towards her room. She slid past him, walking into her room and then right into the bathroom to take a quick shower. Washing off the thoughts of last night, but she felt sick to her stomach knowing Arthur had been with Julia and she didn't know about it. And she hated now was when she found out about it. She felt like it was her fault that the SD card had gotten stolen. How the photos were getting leaked right under her nose the whole time and she didn't even know.

When Riley was done getting ready for the day she walked past the kitchen and down a short hall into a room she kept her piano in. It was an absolute mess. With sheet music everywhere, different journals spread out and open, everything had it's place. She picked up a few different papers, and sat down on the piano's bench. She left the door a crack open on accident, and didn't realize when Max and Daniel came into the room nearly an hour later.

"Rye," Daniel said, scaring her on accident, causing her to press a handful of wrong keys. "Sorry" He laughed seeing her reaction.

"What" Riley sighed, moving the pieces of sheet music that were in-front of her and setting them off to the side.
