Holden and Charles were helping Max and Riley move everything into their penthouse. They were the only people there free, besides Daniel but he was swinging by later. The house felt more and more cluttered with every box brought up. There was no strategy while setting the boxes down, they stretched from the kitchen to the living room, pouring out into the hall.
Jade was helping Riley search for the kitchen appliance box, assuming the kitchen would be the easiest thing to set up. It would've been if they knew where the boxes were. It was stressful searching, and the knowledge that Riley had to order more than what was there stressed her out.
"Max" Riley said when the front door opened again. She walked down the hall, passing the dining room that was currently table-less.
"What" He grunted, carrying one of 5 mattresses inside.
"Oh- I'll just wait" She said, watching his biceps flex as he walked backwards through the door with the mattress.
"Riley they might be on the bottom" Jade said crouched down, trying to see what room was written on the top of the box.
"Riley where do we set this" Holden asked her, holding the other side of the mattress.
"Just into the living room" She said, rushing to the door when the actual movers came in with Charles, carrying in another mattress and more boxes.
"Whoops" Holden said when he bumped into a box that was stacked along another and heard it fall. "I don't think it broke"
"Uh-" Riley put her head in her hands, taking in a deep breath while Jade went find out what it was. "That's fine"
Riley stayed back and became a spectator in the chaos around her. Watching people walk around the penthouse, hearing Holden lift the box to see what was inside, letting out a stressful sigh when he saw 1 of 3 FIA World Championship trophies inside.
"Wait- Max," Riley grabbed him before he left again, "How many boxes are left?"
"Maybe 5" He told her, about to walk out of the door again.
"Can you be more strategic placing them down" She asked him, pulling him back, holding just one of his arms. "We can't find anything"
"I'll help move things around in a second" He told her, feeling Riley's thumb stroke his arm. "What?"
"Nothing" She shook her head, it was the way she was looking at him that made him question her. She kissed his lips softly with a smile, feeling the slight facial hair above his upper lip tickle her skin until she pulled away.
"I'll bring the dressers upstairs next" He said, standing in the same place as she walked away from him.
"Riley, I found two of the boxes!" Jade shouted from down the hall.
"Coming!" Riley said, feeling Max's eyes glued to her until she turned the corner.
Riley was handed a box instantly, seeing it labeled 'Kitchen' on the top of the box. Max had left again with Holden and Charles already when Riley came back around the corner with Jade.
"I'm surprised that Charles came to help" Jade set her box on the counter. "Do you think Arthur knows?"
"Ummm, I'm not sure" Riley stood across from Jade with a box on the counter. "Max said that Charles was the first to respond"
"Holden said Arthur was talking to you the other night" Jade whispered, although they were currently the only people in the house.
"Yeah it was just a bunch of bullshit" Riley sighed, taking plates out of box and placing them on the counter.
