Riley had grown nervous as she waited for Max to turn up to the hotel the next morning. She received a drunk call from Max around 4 in the morning, which was barely coherent, and that was it. Their flight was supposed to take off to Charleston in just over an hour and Max still hadn't shown up. She tried calling him to see where he was, if they were needing to delay their flight, but there was no response. Max's phone had died before dawn, there was no way for either of them to contact each-other.
Riley was running around their hotel room, trying to make sure everything was packed away and put together so when Max did decide to turn up, they could leave. She was walking around the hotel room in a pair of dark grey sweat shorts, and a large Max Verstappen 2024 World Championship T-shirt she had gotten the night before. She tried calling him again, brainstorming who he could possibly be with. But even if she knew, Riley wouldn't have their number.
Riley rushed to the suites door when she heard a hard knock. She checked through the peephole, seeing Max with his arm draped over GP lazily while he struggled to keep his balance. Riley opened the door quickly, pushing down her worry now that Max was in-front of her.
"Hey baby-" Max gently slurred, stumbling slightly to the doorframe.
"Hi" Riley said softly as she opened the door wider, grabbing Max's bicep quickly when he started swaying. "Where were you guys"
"Just down town" GP had a slight slur when he spoke, but not as noticeable as Max's. "We went to a few different clubs"
"Okay great" Riley nodded, helping Max into the room. "Thank you for bringing him back"
Max had pushed the door closed before GP had a moment to respond. Riley ended up carrying Max's weight, laughing quietly while she pushed through the stress she was feeling. Max was pressing kisses along her forehead, not considering the task at hand, Riley trying to move him to the bed so she could finish gathering their things.
"I'm really hard right now" Max decided he'd inform Riley, plopping down backwards on the bed alone.
"Congratulations" Riley told him, sighing when Max grabbed her hand, gently tugging her towards him. "Yes?"
"Come on" He smiled, kissing her palm.
"No." She told him, pulling her hand away. "We have to leave and you're drunk out of your mind"
"I am-" Max paused, "I am not."
"You so are" She said, grabbing a small cosmetics bag to put away in her suitcase. "Did you enjoy yourself"
"Yes" He tried sitting up straight to watch Riley, but ultimately, swayed and laid down on the bed.
"Max-" Riley gasped with wide eyes, "Babe- Max" She pulled him back up, "You can't lay down"
"I can too" He said, opening his eyes when Riley held his jaw. "You look pretty today"
"You're so trying to suck up to me!" She rolled her eyes, moving her hands away from him.
"I'm not- swear" He tried to steal a kiss but Riley looked away before then. "Riles"
"Max Verstappen"
"Mrs Verstappen" He slurred, "Mrs Ri-ley Verstappen"
"Yes" She smiled, scrunching her nose momentarily as she started refolding her clothes to put away.
"I missed you this morning" Max put a hand on Riley's thigh, pulling her closer slowly. Max mumbled his next words against her hip, tightening and loosening his grip on her thigh.
