Joshua and Misty decided to swing by before Riley and Max left for dinner. Misty begged Josh not to bother Riley, but he claimed they needed to check on her. He wasn't going to make it about Jonah, in fact, he wasn't even planning on mentioning him.
Riley was finally making her rounds to the music room with Max. They had been so caught up with each other and going into town she had completely forgotten. Riley's back was pressed against the closed wooden doors that she was to open at any moment. She was too sucked into what Max was saying to ask him to listen for a moment.
"Mhm" She nodded, watching Max's eyes as he talked to her.
"I've lost your attention completely" He noticed the shift in where her focus was. Max's eyes, the room behind her, his voice, the freckle on his lip.
"No you still have it" Riley said softly, smiling widely when Max's calloused hands went under her jaw, tilting her head up more for a kiss. Riley was standing with her arms behind her back, falling into Max completely. She was wearing a long sundress for dinner, something easy to take off when they went onto the boat afterwards. Her bathing suit was on under it, she chose a white one so the straps would match her dress if they showed.
They could've made out in that hallway for the rest of the night if the door behind Riley didn't start creaking when Max pushed her onto it more. Max pulled his lips away from Riley and dropped his hands from her jaw. Riley looked towards the ground, feeling a strong blush overtake her face.
"Anyways..." She whispered, about to open the door. "I spent most of my childhood in the room behind this door. I'd consider it the start of who I am today"
"I think I have an idea to what it is" Max told her, he knew it was a piano. Riley's told him about a music room and he still hadn't seen it.
"Don't steal my thunder" Riley scoffed, turning around to slide the door open. She did it with ease, watching the old door disappear into the wall.
"I knew it" Max emphasized, seeing the piano room.
"Grandma Josie taught me how to play in here almost everyday that I spent living in this house" Riley informed him, following him inside the room. "She taught me everything I know"
Riley noticed a few baby toys on the floor beside the piano. They were placed on a small 'tummy time' mat that must've been used by Griffin when Misty was in here. She played the piano on a beginners level, no where near as well as Riley did. But nonetheless she made use of the room.
"Are those yours too?" Max laughed at the joke he made, sitting down at the pianos bench.
"For obvious reasons no" Riley stood behind him and wrapped her arms around his shoulders. Riley moved one hand down to Max's top button on his shirt, undoing it so she could slide her hand under the linen. Riley rested it on his chest, listening to the few keys he was pressing.
"I don't know how to play"
"I think I'll teach our kids if we have any" Riley kept her eyes on the toys a few feet away.
"When" Max corrected her.
"I'll do it in this house too" Riley laid her head on the top of his, she spoke quietly as if her words would shatter at a louder volume.
"I'm assuming we'd be traveling a lot?" Max asked, he paid attention to the subtle rubbing movements Riley's hand was making on his chest.
"Between your races, going home and being here yes"
"We'll have to draw the line somewhere"
"It doesn't have to be every race" Riley told Max, lifting her head to watch what keys he was playing. She was taking notes, planning on using this general range to compose something later on. "But I don't see why we wouldn't just fly with you"
